I have a 97 chevy express cargo van that will not start. Last week it would not start and a mechanic changed the fuel pump. Not even a week later and it will not start. The mechanic is not standing behind his work and I need help. Could it be anything other than the fuel pump? The engine is cranking but will not start. After cranking for awhile it drains the battery. The fan and belts are moving but it will not turn over.
I had the same problem a year ago and the fuel filter was the problem. Check to see how much fuel pressure you are getting and look in the manual for the exact pressure and go from there. You will need a fuel pressure gauge to check it
Try to spray a little fuel into the throttle body or carb and see if it starts and runs if it does check your filters and spider injectors also it wouldnt hurt to check your hall effect sensor
I had a simular problem. I had bad plug/coil wires. The foil insulation from the engine cover would draw the voltage from the wires.
