1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee keeps flashing "Service 4WD switch".

95 JGC with 220,000 miles keeps flashing and beeping "Service 4WD Switch" of the Graphic Display module. I don't want to put more money to into the vehicle. How do I either repair, Make the code come in and stay in, or stop.

You will probably find the oil level in the exchange box is low and the sensor is activating.

I have had this same issue for over 5 years. I get the intermittant flashing and beeping "Service 4WD Switch" on the Graphic Display module. Sometimes it will happen a lot and other times it won't happen for days. I have searched the internet for solutions and haven't found any yet. Most of the people have tried unplugging the sensor to silence the alarm. One source mentioned he was able to get it to stop by going thru the gears such as 2WD forward, reverse, low, high, etc. and then 4WD and go thru all the gears. I tried it and no such luck, I still get the intermittant alarm. I refuse to take it to the Jeep dealer as I don't want to sell my offspring to pay for the repairs. So I live with the annoying alarm.

My 95 grand cherokee says service 4wd switch is this a problem

The 4wd switch is the indicator that tells the VIC (vehicle information center) if you are in 4 low or 4 high. Have it replaced, but first check wiring, that more likely the wiring from the switch to the VIC is damaged.

Also,
you could have a vacuum leak which would enable the transfer case to not recognize that the switch has been activated.

Is the overdrive solenoid on a 95 JGC accessible, externally?

no. its part of the valve body inside of the transmission. you would need to drain and remove the transmission oil pan and then remove the valve body. Best left to a transmission shop or reputable repair center.
