Okay those lights are called your driving lights. they only come on during the day, when headlights are off, they are for safety. i know this would drive me crazy, a customer would come in and say i have a light out and i would check and all was fine. the way it works is during the day, headlights off and truck must be in drive,

you will need some one inside holding the brake and put in drive with headlights off for you to see them and see if they need bulbs. let me know the outcome .good day

SOURCE: INOP low beam and high beams

The problem is the headlight switch itself - it's one of the most common failures on these cars. The part, brand-new, is about $158 from ECSTuning.com. Replacing it involves removing the airbag and steering wheel - not difficult but a little nerve-wracking due to the power of the airbag.

If this is something you want to tackle on your own, reply back here and I can give you a step-by-step on doing the work yourself. Or you can go to a shop/dealer and just have them do it. They'll probably charge you at least two hours' labor, even though it's a 40 minute job. Let me know what you would like to do.

SOURCE: low beam head lights won't work

Check your relay switches under the hood fuse box. They should be a light grey from factory, they are about 1 x 1" in size and there are a few in there. Pull one out at a time and if they look brownish or yellowing replace. Go to Napa or Auto Zone for $15.99 a peice that most likely will fix it.

SOURCE: Low Beam Headlights don't work anymore

Just went through the same thing. Replaced the bulbs with expensive ones about 3 months ago, both low's went out together. I looked at all fuses relays etc to no avail. Called dealership to ask about a relay or something and was told they go out together for some reason. Sure enough I replaced them yet again and they were fine. WTF??????

Unless they change everything, the bumper just bolys on. Fisconnect the tow plug and what ever else and take the bolts out of the brackets attached to the frame, Good Luck, Ned-

Fuse for window regulator (circuit breaker) on 13 position auxiliary relay panel. The wiring connectors are located at the lower left and right side kick panels. The auxiliary relay panel is located above the lower kick panel above the pedals.

Headlight fuse location:
#18 High beam right 10A
#19 High beam left 10A
#20 Low beam right 15A
#21 Low beam left 15A

Daytime running light relay location on upper (auxiliary) relay panel. This are the only ones using relays regarding your question.

2001 Chevy 2500hd bright lights won't come in. The dims work.

Try turning on the high beams and see if there is power to the socket where the bulbs plug in. Low beams are one connector and the high should be another. Just go from socket to ground with test light or meter.
