SOURCE: I have a 2003 Toyota corolla S with a 5spd manual.

your transmission is in need of a rebuild. Almost EVERY manual Corolla has transmission problems between 85-100k. They are JUNK! if you don't believe call your local dealer and check availability on a new manual trans. Ours went at 85k. There is a weak link (part) that has been upgraded to fix the problem at YOUR expense. Did you know that there are sludge issues in that motor that could cause it to go at 100k. Again, Toyota takes NO responsibly for this and say's it is uncommon?!
Unfortunately the days of Toyota making a great car are OVER. Buy a Honda. That's what we did.

Auto won't down shift when o/d button is pushed

This button only makes the gearbox change from 3rd to 4th or 4th to 3rd, will not down shift in any other gear, make sure it is in 4th gear, usually above 60km, than press o/d off it should go into 3rd gear, if it does not than see a automatic specialist, it is usually a sensor, if you go to Toyota they will charge you a fair bit.

a gear box place should know more than me but this can also be caused bye a little ball bearing and spring .... these 2 things push on the selecter shafts and fit in to a groove that holds the shaft in the right spot .. that is what u feel when u change gear and it stays in position ....... the spring - springs can looz tention .. brake or the ball can wear or the groov it sits in to can do the same making it not hold in position ... 2nd and 4th are prob on the same shaft and this problem useully happens under load or taking off quick ........ i think they call them retainer springs and ball

the gearbox may just need a good service like a new filter and fresh oil,,, or it could be the gearbox velve block pistons sticking or worst still it may be the clutches slipping nothing can be done then unless you strip the gearbox and fit new parts but the longer you leave it slipping the biger the repair bill will be

2005 Corolla's manual trasmission shifts gears, it clunks

hi mate , sounds like the SPIGOT bearing its a little bearing that allows the gearbox to be at a different seed than the engine flywheel and if this is in bad condition it will take the gearbox front shaft to a higher speed than comfortable for gearshift , in the meantime when you go for 1st or reverse gear just engage a gear like 4th without taking your foot off the clutch and then go for 1st or reverse, this will stop the gearbox spining long enough for a smooth shif, oNLY USE THIS METHOD WHILE STaTIONARY and see a professional when you get time.

How do i change the gear oil for a toyota yaris 2007? i'm having difficulty changing my gears

There should be a drain plug on the bottom of the gearbox. Unlike engine oil, usually the filling location for gear oil is on the side of the gearbox. You use a syringe or a specialised tool to get the gearoil in, and when it gets up to the level of the hole it's full. However I do agree with agent91 that your clutch is a more likely cause. there are some tests you can do to check the health of your clutch e.g. drive along in 4th at 40, clutch down, rev to redline, snap out clutch keeping your foot on throttle, and if revs don't drop to the correct speed in around a second you're slipping.

Toyota Landcruiser VX 4.2 turbo diesel automatic

Bit of a long shot, but check the output of the throttle position sensor with a multimeter.

Also, check that the low range switch isn't continually reporting that you are in low range. The gearbox computer adopts a VERY harsh shift pattern in low range, holding gears until approx. 3500 RPM and even then producing very hard shifts.

Try unplugging the connector that carries the low range sense signal from the transfer box under the vehicle and see if that makes a difference.

Gear box for ed sedan

If the actual gear stick is hard to move you will find the linkages are stuck on something, if it moves freely and still doesnt change theres two things it could be, first is motor was incorrectly installed or second is the gearbox has gone into limp mode, limp mode is a factory set mode that keeps the car in 3rd gear for a 3 speed or 4th in a 4 speed, in the ba's i had this problem with my car, limp mode is only a safety measure to get you home and should be looked at immediatley.
