DSC fault on display, car stops complete electrical failure.

Hello,
Car is Jaguar X-Type 2.5v6 auto AWD.Car has driven perfectly till now.
A new reconditioned gear box fitted by Jag.main dealer 18months ago and has been perfect.Today on slow approach to roundabout the dsc display lit up on instrument pack saying dsc fault. The car came to a stop and wouldnot restart.I think that the gear box fault display lit up briefly and then the car restarted sluggishly to enable me to pull off the road. The car wouldnot restart and then a complete electrical failure of all car systems occured.Everything failed including lights, central locking, radio etc.
Any ideas to solve this ?
thanks from Jagman-123

Hi Jagman

I suspect this could be your battery at fault.

Get it heavy discharge tested first.

Good Luck.

John.

Were is the 2004 Jaguar x type electric radiator fans relay at?

I don't know where it is; however, my husband and I have purchased 2 cooling fan assemblies for my 2004 Jaguar x-type 3.0 AWD. Neither of them would turn on. We have since been advised by a Jag mechanic that you must have a part called the link lead in order for the fans to work properly. This is a non-admitted (by Jaguar) default in this car. Check Quality Auto Parts 800-505-5838, ext. 1047 and ask for AMY. Hope this helps Nancy

2004 Jaguar s type dsc and parking brake along with engine system fault comes on and car goes into limp mode when slowing down or when it rains.

I had the same thing here, I paid lots of money to find out what is the problem, mechanics played with my poor car damaged everything they can to stop it from running, but when I found out that when I changed the battery on my own, with a turkish manufactured battery of 100 A big battery, not even the fault stopped appearing but all the car was boosted in performance, Dsc not available and Park Brake is all related to the level of electricity running the parts of car was screaming back to you, change my battery, all parts of Jaguar runs on electricity, main computer now runs faster, no delay on screen, and now Dsc not available once ignited doesn't appear anymore, remember that once car is reset by battery change, you need to apply brake and boot (step on brak and hold park brak lever up at the same time with pressing computer button on stearing whisk for like 10 sec until you see on screen AVE back again), and bypass radio lock by pressing on the three buttons, mem and the right combination with >>, and you're set

4 recalls so far. http://www.motortrend.com/cars/2003/jaguar/s_type/recalls/index.html

unhook the battery for about 15 minutes, that will reset the computer. if you have an anti-theft radio. make sure you know the code first.

Diesel particle filter keeps blocking

This is down to the way the vehicle is driven, if you are doing a lot of short stop start journeys the dpf will fill up a lot quicker than when driven on a motorway.
If you have an amber light and 'DPF FULL' displayed you can do a particle filter regeneration. To carry out a regeneration the vehicle must be driven on a motorway at around 60mph for approx 20 mins to carry out re-gen, there will also be a burning smell when this is complete.
If you have a red light and 'DPF FULL' displayed then there may be a fault which will require investigation.
