The fuel pump should be virtually silent when running. I'd start by replacing the pump.

SOURCE: 1995 plymouth voyager engine wont

Check for power from your ASD Relay. To do this, Connect a test light between the green and orange wire at one of the fuel injectors and a known-good ground. Turn the ignition switch to the "Run" position and the light should come on for about three seconds then go out again. If it does not do this then you have a problem with the ASD relay or the Engine Control Module.

If it comes on like stated above, replace the fuel pump. (Located inside the fuel tank)

SOURCE: 97 plymouth grand voyager wont start changed the fuel pump and filter replaced the ecm, ignition coil and checked all fuses it started up after changing fuel pump it ran for like twenty min then died

Hello
The engine and transmission in this cars drive train are fully electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM (Power Train Control Module). Whenever a problem like this occurs the computer stores a record of the problem (there are of course some exceptions to this, like the fuel pump for instance) in the form of a fault code in its memory, to read these fault codes you must have the systems memory scanned with a special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read you then must perform the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and resolve the problem(s) DO NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS UNTIL THE DIAGNOSIS & TESTING IS COMPLETED.

There is a high pitched sound coming from under my 2002 Jimmy. It seems to be originating in the vicinity of the fuel tank, catalytic converter, differential area. But I cannot isolate it. Possibles?

Fuel pump in the tank makes a high pitch sound which is normal. Turn your key in the ignition, but don't start, you should hear the high pitch sound with the pump priming the system. You will still hear it when started, it's annoying but normal. Different brands are quieter than other, I just replaced mine with a Delphi brand fuel pump which is a tad quieter than AC Delco stock pump.

The pump should not be making noise like that. Return it and try another one.

The electric fual pump has failed more than likely. The pump is located inside the fuel tank, the fuel tank must be removed to replace the pump.

I need to replace my puel pump for plymouth voyeger 1999.

The fuel pump in a Plymouth Voyager is electric so you should check the fuses and relays before inspecting the fuel pump itself. If you have fuel in your tank but your vehicle has difficulty getting fuel, you may need to clean your fuel pump or replace it entirely. The Plymouth Voyager comes in a variety of styles and this may affect your choice of fuel pump.
jQuery('.intro .thumbnail').each(function(i,e){ jQuery(e).find('img').one('error',function(){ jQuery(e).remove(); }); });
Things You'll Need:
  • Fuel pump kit
  • Socket wrench set
  • Torque wrench
  1. Step 1 Determine the fuel pump that your Plymouth Voyager will require. This depends on the make and model and engine size of your vehicle. Models manufactured from 1991 to 1995 came with a 2.5 L K, 3.0 L Mitsubishi 6G72, 3.3L EGA or 3.8 L EGH engine. Models made after 1995 may have a 2.4 L EDZ, 3.0 L Mitsubishi 6G72, 3.3 L EGA or 3.8 L EGH engine.
  2. Step 2 Relieve the fuel2_bing.gif system pressure and drain the fuel tank. Disconnect the negative battery cable with a socket wrench.
  3. Step 3 Support the fuel tank and loosen the strap bolts with a socket wrench. Remove the fuel line and electrical harness for the fuel pump.
  4. Step 4 Lower the fuel tank so that you can remove the lock ring for the fuel pump. This will allow you to remove the fuel pump.
  5. Step 5 Install the new fuel pump using the items included in the kit. Use a torque wrench to tighten the lock ring and bolts for the main fuel tank straps to 40 ft. lbs. Torque the bolts on the T strap for the fuel tank to 250 in. lbs.
  6. Step 6 Complete the installation by reversing the removal procedure.

No power to fuel pump

What you need to do is drop the fuel tank and put a new fuel pump in it. I would drain the gas and put new gas in after you get the pump changed.
