Question about 1998 Chevrolet Blazer
I had my fuel pump fixed it died no biggie... only i went to pick it up from the shop and the gas gage didn't work if its full it read 1/4 tank I know the sending unit could be bad so could the gage but what else could it be?
The garage should have replaced the sending unit with the fuel pump. it is all one part

Test the gauge by using a test light ,and grounding the test light clip to a good known ground, then touch the pink wire on the connector harness going to the tank, with the connector unplugged, and key on,the gauge will move slowly to the empty mark, and lower ,then remove the test light and it will go past full,if it does this,it is a good gauge, and the sending unit, was put in wrong,or the part was bad.

Yes it is all one unit, and yes that is what the problem is. don't use aftermarket parts, use OEM, (Delco Remy) they are much better quality.

SOURCE: 98 tahoe fuel gage
could be just a ground problem or a sending unit problem but not a pump problem.
check and make sure that the gas tank is grounded. check also the signal wire from the sending unit that it is not loose or cut. if all the wires are ok, then it is the sending unit which is faulty.
tnx 4 using fixya,

you have a ground problem check the wiring at the sender it may be broken off or no a good enough ground to the frame it should be a black wire
hope this helps
