Question about 1999 Mercury Villager
Tachometer oscillates when coming to a stop light and sometimes goes down so far that the engine dies. So far i have change one fuel injector where the spark plug was burn and several times the AIC(or idle control) and the distributor cap, it also smells a lot of gasoline. The problem went away after the f. injector change but it came back and i check the spark plugs and they are clean.
check if the negative terminal of your ignition coil is connected to the condenser of your distributor.
also, make sure that the negative terminal of the ignition coil is not connected to the negative terminal of the battery / body ground.

Fuel pumps don't have anything to do with spark. Have the codes read. My guess you lost the crank sensor, ignition module, or coil. Check your fuses also.
