-can not hear the fuel pump either. Could this be related to the anti theft system?. Tried the relearn procedure, but the key does not have a visable resistor pellet. Had the same problem with a 2003 Sunfire when the alternator was changed a few months ago. It eventually did start (did not know about or try the relearn procedure on the 2003) after an hour of off and on cranking and some quick start, but on the 2003 you could hear the fuel pump. Neither car has keyless entry. Are the 2003 and 2004 anti theft systems different? Did driving with the battery voltage dropping because the alternator was not charging damage the computer ? Thanks for any help.
I had the same issue!! it is the security system failing. I took it to the shop and they wanted a ridiculous amount of money to fix it.. So i did a ton of research and i found a part you can install yourself that will bypass it allowing your car to start every time... I did mine 5 years ago and i havent had an issue since. Check out the site your car in on the list year make and model.. They are friendly and have great customer service and for some reason if it doesnt work they will refund you 100% hope this helps ya out

turning left and stalling sounds like your power steering pressure switch is bad.as for other problem try unlocking drivers door using the key this should reset the factory alarm. also make sure you didn't miss a wire when reconnecting bat. look for 12gauge red wire near bat. this goes to computer if not connected car will crank but not start.
