Exterior rear door handle on Honda Accord 2001

My rear driver side door will not open from outside (it works from inside). I got a replacement door handle from Honda. Is it possible to get a diagram or instruction on how to replace a door handle on my Honda Accord 2001 LX 4-door car?
Thnak you in advance.
Andrew

To Remove Door Panel on 2001 Honda Accord:

A: To remove the plastic piece with the door lock button and door handle connected to it:

1- Remove the screw in the middle located behind a plastic cover button
2- Push (slide) the whole assembly Forward (toward front of car)
Besides the screw, it is held in place by 3 hooks on the backside that hook into holes in the metal door frame
3- Now unhook handle from small metal bar going through door by pushing (toward door) plastic clip (blue?) off of the bar, then the bar will come out of the clip hole, thus releasing the handle.
4- Depress little grey button /bar (purple painted on it)on elec. connector to seperate connector, thus releasing door lock switch

Now the whole assembly (metal handle, door lock switch, and plastic piece) will come off door panel

B: The door is held on by 2-screws, 7-plastic snaps/plugs, and 1-plastic plug.

The screws are located: bottom of hand hold and the other behind the handle, both covered by little covers that have to be pryed off to access the screws.(hint: the screw with the built in spacer goes behind the handle when you are trying to reinstall)
The 7-plastic snaps: 3 across bottom and 2 on each side. Not visible, they are mounted to the inside of the panel.
The 1-plastic plug is visible at the upper front of the panel and is the same color as the surrounding trim

C: Take off the big plastic triangle piece above the door panel and behind the mirror. Pull/pry off. It has 2 snaps holding it on. one near bottom and one near the front.

D: Light lens prys off from bottom. Unscrew (1/4 turn) the light assembly with bulb still intact from backside of panel

E: Remove the Hand-Hold/window switch assembly:

There should be retainer nuts on the inside. You would have to remove the inner door panel to access.

My daughter called saying that the driver's side door on her 1998 Honda accord won't open. Door locks/unlocks both manually and with interior switch...window operates fine...exterior/interior handles seem...

You didn't mention if the inside release works. Typically there are little rods and levers involved and something comes loose. If you find a rod off, do something, as it will want to pop off again, only sooner. Sometimes you find broken plactic and you need to get a new part.

It is annoying to get into the door if neither inside or outside will release the door.

Some doors are affected by pulling on a lever, near the time unlock button was pushed... If lock, and unlock )with no levers being pulled (by you)) does not release it, surgery is next step.

2003 Honda accord V6 inside  driver door handle does not work.  will lock just fine but won't open when pulling the handle.  I have to let the window down and manually open the outside...

The cable going to must have come undone or handle leaver inside is broken. The interior door panel will have to be removed to verify problem.

1997 buick park ave 4 door right front door handle won,t work from the outside

Order the exterior door handle AND the clip that attaches the rod to the exterior handle from your local dealership ( any part in the salvage yard will have at least as much wear as the one U are replacing ) Also order a can of touch up paint matching your car. After you have the parts and have painted the new exterior handle, roll down the window and remove the interior door panel. ( instructions have been posted at 'replace door lock buttom' ) Two nuts, one on each side, hold the broken handle in place and must be removed ( DON'T loose them ). Loosen the rod from the clip at the top to allow a bit more room, But take note on the way it is attached ( you will need to reattach the rod to new handle ) To install new mechanism put the new clip on the rod, carefully place the gasket and the new handle in place and install nuts to secure. Test the door handle and make sure it works. Reinstall interior door panel.
