Replace Cup Holder and Air Vent

A Chilton or equivalent shop manual should tell you. In general, consider that these items are installed in a flash at the factory by non-skilled workers, so it probably goes in real simply and quickly. Look for little catches, tabs, slots, etc., that line it up, and snap it in.

Left side dash cupholder under the left side ac vent no longer springs out

The cup-holder jamming is a common problem for the RX.. this is usually caused by some distortion of the upper instrument panel. What is happening the the cup holder is being pinch and the spring force cannot over come the frictional forces. If you have it out, it could be as simple as adding some grease on the slide contact points.

You can try to pop off the register and cup holder assembly add reinstall it. It could change the positioning. The assembly is snapped in and held in place by locking tabs.

Rear A/C for 2005 Ford Expedition

I had same problem. What I did was a temporary fix that needs to be repeated once in a while. Here goes. Remove the rear cup holder that is above the rear vent on the passenger side of the vehicle. Take a long Flat Head Screwdriver and try to rotate the white plastic gear clockwise by pushing it on the left side of one of the teeth. You will feel it give and should feel air coming from roof vents instead of bottom vent. It is pretty easy to do but may have to be repeated off and on.

An Item Has Fallen Into The Space Behind The Cup Holder? Help.

I recently had to retrieve a small object (camera battery) that was dropped in the cup holder. The battery allowed the cup holder to close properly, but it would not allow the cup holder to open all the way, making the cupholder useless. Getting access to remove the object was quick and easy - all it takes is a small flat blade screw driver. Use the screw driver to gently pry up the wood trim panel in front of the cup holder. Be sure to pull it up evenly from both sides and it will pop out of its retaining sockets. You'll then have the access you need. When you've finished, just realign the wood trim piece and tap it back into place. You can see a picture of where to pry at http://info5000.com/LS400_trim.jpg
