How to remove audi a6 wiper blade locking piece?
The problem with this wiper blade set up is the slides get jammed up w/ crude. You should lubricate the slides and they should slide off. Then carfully lift the arm and remove the blade. Warning you should never leave the arm in the upright position. Windshields get cracked this way. Also note the pivit points the blades attach too. These will normally sieze up and cause clearing issues even with new blades. Lubricate these pivit points and use a pair of channel locks to move it back and forth until it will go 360 degrees with your fingers. Install is in reverse order of removal.
Turn your wipers off, using the stalk on the left side of your steering column. Turn your ignition off and remove the key.
Pull the wiper blade up to lift it to the service position. Pull the front part of the blade down to position it at an angle.
Pull back the lock pin on the center part of the wiper blade (where it connects to the wiper arm). This unlocks the blade from the wiper arm.
Grasp the blade on each side and pull it down (away from the extended wiper arm) to release it from the "U" clip.
Repeat the process for the other wiper blade, if desired. Removing the driver's side and passenger's side wiper blade is the same.
Install the new wiper blade. Open the lock pin on the new blade, and then insert it into the wiper arm "U" clip. Close the lock pin and lower the wiper blade to its normal position.

Although the Owners Handbook suggests it's merely a matter of sliding the locking piece towards the end of the stem of the wiper, it just won't move. They obviously want you to go to an Audi garage and pay £60 to have it done for you. i object to that.
Just purchased an 04 Audi A6 and need new wipers... How do you remove them?
