The dash board has cracked

The plastic dashboard in the toyota Prado VX (6cyl) 2004, has cracked, not in the area exposed to the sun, but in the area not exposed to!
It shows lines that break the plastic dashboard surface in large pieces
don't see why, or how can I stop it. Or how can I fix it. Tks

2003 120 Series Toyota Prado.  The dash board has two cracks.  There is a hairline crack on the passenger side that extends from the air con vent across the face of the dash (about 30cm), and a crack on the driver side that follows the curved section of the dash above the instrument consol.  Upon advice from the local Toyota dealer I submitted an "out of warranty" claim, only to be told that Toyota could not help me because me car was "out of warranty".  Advice from local auto repair companies indicates that a permanent repair solution is not available.

2005 Toyota Prado. I have the same problem on my 2005 PRADO where The dash board has two cracks. There is a 10 cm crack on the passenger side that extends from the air con vent across the face of the dash, and a major crack measuring 40cm long and appear as if the dashboard split in two hallves on the driver side that follows the curved section of the dash above the instrument consol. My friend owns a PRADO and has expeirenced excatly the same cracks. My feeling is that we are not the only ones, and Toyota manufacturing company should acknowledge problem and cover replacement of all affected dashboards. For info, I have a covered car park both at home and office so Sun has nothing to do with it, simply it is a material deficiency.

Interesting vick761 of I had to describe the hairline cracks that have appeared on the dashboard or my 2004 Prado V6 4.0 VX your description would be an exact fit. Exactly ! Poor interior build quality from Toyota?

Sun has cracked the dashboard partitions - looking for replacements

There are vehicle upholsters that have the ways and means of redoing the dash of most vehicles. Or go to the wreckers and get one from there. A good investment when you have had it replaced is a dash mat to stop the sun damage.

Sticky dashboard and steering air bag cover when exposed to the sun.

The plastic technology is only up to a certain level of with standing the heat. It will eventually becomes sticky and Oily. The only way to stop the plastic from further degrading is to treat the plastic and Not Clean it. By Cleaning, the condition will get from Bad to worst and eventually wipe off the whole plastic surface. By treating it, the plastic will no longer be sticky and oily and hence prolonging the life span of the Plastic. Use the Conditioner from the sticky melting solution dot com that can stop the sticky and oily surface within an hour. Home
