2004 audi a6 idling issues, sometimes just turns off while in drive

As an example, yesterday I was driving and the car just turned off completely while in drive. The engine light & this circle with an arrow on the end of it came on with a T in the middle. Now, I have brought my car to the Audi dealership approx. 2 years ago, and they stated they could not find anything wrong with it and charged me around $200 for doing nothing. I have been having the same issues as before several times and this is just ridiculous. It cut off on me 5 times yesterday. I will be going around 35 and it just cuts off, VERY dangerous. Then if I come to a stop sign it will cut off. Also the RPM's are all over the place, jumping up and down. The car only has 85k miles on it and I am just disgusted at this point. Any ideas of what the problem may be??? Thanks for your help :)

SOURCE: Audi Quattro A6 will not go into drive

It's the brake pedal switch. There is a switch down on the pedal arm that closes when you press the pedal down, and sends a sensing voltage to the controller, telling it the brakes are applied. This allows the transmission lock to disengage so you can shift out of Park. When that switch fails, the lock won't disengage. You need to replace that switch and you'll be fixed.

SOURCE: Audi A6 Quattro - Looses lights

They usually have igniters that will start to give out on the light bulbs. But if they did not find any faults then it would require a long diagnosis time.

When I turn on my car Audi a6 2004 it won't let me go from park to drive why is that

could be the switch in the braking system that must be engaged to shift out of park is broken or non functioning because of wiring or sensor not working. When Audi got in trouble with the un-intended acceleration issue, they installed this safety feature so that your foot had to be on the brakes before it would shift out of park.

I have a ticking noice coming from inside the dashboard of my 2004 A6 near the hazzard/esp buttons, its sounds like a relay switch and is driving me nuts

well it sounds like a bad connection with the relay its most likely for your turn signals. if your turn signals stop working (does not flash) just give the dash a (slight) tap.

Sometimes can't get reverse gear Audi A6 2004 Auto 1.9TDi UK

Unless your shade tree mechanic is an Audi expert, go to the dealer who has all the books and diagrams that tell the tech exactly where to look. The other guy may want to replace something just to troubleshoot and the factory tech should know exactly what to replace or which plug is loose.

Audi not starting

i think you have a faulty starter. If you know where the starter is. you could get someone to knock on it. when you trying to start. Works sometimes. It also could be bad connection to the fuel pump. check/listen if it get fuel. when cranking.

98 Audi A6, Battery died overnight, when jumping smoke rises

Sounds like the alternator is badly damaged. The alternator will drain the battery if the regulutor or diode assembly goes out and/or the alternator is seized or locking up, which will cause the smoke (belt slippage) and drag on the engine (rough idle).

Audi a4 2.8

All you need to do is get the throttle motor/body re-adapted, this can be done by audi, sometimes if you were to drive the vehicle 30 miles it will re-adapt itself but as its not idling, this can be difficult
