No--- it is not time to change anything

It is time to diagnose the cause of the evap code

Without the smoke,I ask--what if the hose are okey?

Then what?

What about the 5 or 6 solenoids & sensors?

You need a smoke machine & scanner to command thing
on & off

A diagram can be had at any shop with ALLDATA

They can print that for you,

I assume you got a small leak code, not a specific
item in evap

How about a shop smokes it & you go home &
make the repair?

SOURCE: i have a 2002 hyundai accent, i could not pump gas

First GUESS.. replace the charcoal canister after you have cleaned out the hoses between it and the canister. Then blow air between the purge control solenoid valve and the fuel tank.

What does code 444 mean I have changef the senors already and it still getting this code

Well this is an emessions code you probably didn't need to change your senors you could have had a bad gas cap,or a cracked evap hose, but I hope your not like some people that fill your tank all the way to the gas cap.if so then you just put gas in the evap canister it's no big problem. Just look at your gas cap rubber seal if it cracked and look and see if you have rust were rubber seal meets the filler neck.oh and make sure it's on filler neck correctly.

2004 Honda Pilot Evap code P1456 Changed gas cap from honda and still

code p1456 refers to evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge system(fuel tank system) -leak detected===causes--hose-fuel tank/pressure sensor--fuel filler cap--EVAP valve /bypass solenoid--EVAP two way valve---EVAP canister/vent valve

There is also a second reference to the code which is EVAP system leakage ====filler cap--EVAP canister purge valve--hoses---EVAP canister shut off valve---ECM programming---ECM

Check with the service dealer that the filler caps are interchangeable . It may be coincidence that the problem started after you changed caps or it may have shown a failure in the making

Check engine light -- daewoo disgnostic trouble code p0442..what is it and is a major/minor problem --performed visual inspec. on fuel cap, evap hoses and canister..all ok..no sign of leak noticed when...

Okay no leaks so this means the vent valve is closing, how did you get valve to close? if there are no leaks and vent valve is closing and sealed when you smoke tested it then i would say to replace the purge valve, this is easy to change and not costly, just a dealer part or maybe you can find on the web, hope this helps.

AN AUTO TECH USING A DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE GOT A CODE PO442, FOR A SMALL EVAP EMMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM LEAK AROUND 11.26.08 ON MY 2003 HYUNDAI ACCENT. WHAT KIND OF COST CAN I EXPECT TO REPAIR THIS?

This DTC (P0442) depends on what caused the code to set. Most times it's simply a loose fuel cap or the O-ring on the fuel cap is damaged OR dirt got between the O-ring and the mating surface of the fuel filler tube. There are numerous possible causes for the DTC you have -- Fuel cap, pin hole in fuel system (evap hoses, fuel tank, fuel cap), canister close valve leaking, fuel tank pressure sensor malfunction, purge control solenoid valve malfunction, etc.
BEST SOLUTION: Take the vehicle into a Hyundai Service Center (dealership), pay the diagnostic fee. They will tell you EXACTLY what the problem is and what's needed to fix it (parts, labor, tax, time-frame, etc.). If you perfer to try and fix it yourself, Go to http://www.hmaservice.com/ and register (vehicle by VIN). Afterward, you'll have access to technical information (manuals, wiring diagrams, service bulletins, etc) about your vehicle.

Error code p0442

EVAP Emission Control System - Small Leak Detected (1.0 mm). This code can be set when 1. fuel filler cap is not completely tight, 2. when various hoses get punctured or the canister close valve does not seal completely, 3. there is an actual leak in the charcoal canister, fuel tank, or other EVAP system component, 4. if any one of these components are malfunction (a), fuel tank pressure sensor, (b) purge control solenoid valve, (c) canister close valve, or (d) fuel cap. An engine vacuum leak would not set this code.
Solution: Take the vehicle to a Hyundai Dealership for proper diagnosis/repair.

01 sonata gls v6...code po455, po442. what are these and how can I pass emissions test in arizona

If you have an EVAP leak, you will get the following codes:

1. P0442 evap emission control system leak (small).
2. P0455 evap emission control system leak (large).

If these codes come up, you need to trace the leak. The most common place for the systems to leak besides the gas cap is at the service port under the hood, the hoses at the purge solenoid, and the hoses around the fuel tank. Check all your EVAP hoses from under the hood , all the way back to the gas tank. You can repair a split hose easily. Buy some 14.5mm EVAP hose at the auto parts store. Just cut the split or cracked section out and attach the new hose.

I can only say that u must fix the code issue and light to pass state emission test, if u reset the light they will know, the system will tell the tester that the system is not ready, this will cause a fail.
