Car was stolen, battery, ignition, radio trashed etc. put in a new ignition, all the gauges work, odometer works, trip meter works but speedometer is all the way over to the right back to zero.

I had that problem before i turned the key to on and pressed the odomiter button twice and held it down it started to run through the codes and havent had a problem with it since.

sounds like might b a main fuse. do u have a kick panel and a box under the hood? sometimes a main relay or fuse will cause many electric things to go out.
there is a regulator for the display brightness, you may have it turn'd down or it has stopped working;. it controls the brightness at which the dash lights are. usually has a speedo sign on it. goes up and down. it works with the main light and is conecter to them on the same lighting board if it has gone then a new light swtch control switch will be needed.
1)check the ignition switch is not loose.those things normally come on before starting.unless2) you have a main ground broken somewhere.rodents eat the wiring harness to build a nest and cause mayhem...i have seen that a few times .check the fusebox under the hood on the drivers side
Pull any fuses marked stereo/radio and see if that helps. If insurance is involved, take it where new stereo getting installed & have them do it for you if your stumped.
