SOURCE: Power steering pump or fluid?

From the top. The reservoir is located on the power steering pump which is ran off of a belt so it will be located in the front of the motor. Look for the cooling fan and then you will be close and should find it from there.

SOURCE: My 2006 Uplander started to blow smoke from the

you need to get it clean all off then check all your fluids.
you should not drive the car until you find out what is the problem
because you can damage the engine or it will catch on fire.
2006 is kind a new to have this kind of problem, but any thing can happen. you may have run over some thing or a rock can hit a hose or radiator and cause steering fluid or transmission fluid to leak out

Testimonial: "Thanks for your help. The only level that is low is the power steering fluid.2006 does seem pretty new to be having such trouble!"

Replacing power steering resevoir and filter.

Firstly, I've never heard of a power steering system with a filter in it. I see no reason for said filter. And you never have to flush a power steering system. Any time I add fluid, I never use power steering fluid in a bottle that's labeled to be for that. It's much more expensive than transmission fluid, which is the same fluid. Unless of course these newer vehicles have added some things that really are not needed. Like a power steering fluid filter!!!! There's no such thing. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but you're going to have to prove it to me.

What liquids go in each resevoir?

Coolant in 50% concentration goes into the coolant overflow bottle. Windshield wiper fluid into the wiper fluid bottle. Power steering fluid into the power steering fluid bottle.
You do not need to add any other fluids to these. Do not add water to the washer fluid bottle for example, if you drive in a climate that would allow it to freeze.

1999 Lesabre Custom, weak power steering

first check the fluid but when its low it will make a whining sound so not that likely if you are not hearing anything. the way to check the fluid is to take the cap of the resevoir and it has a dipstick on it. the resevoir is on the power steering pump which on your car i believe is on the belt side of the engine between the engine and the firewall. what is most likely your problem is that your pump is worn out and needs to be changed.

Power steering

NO, DOT 4 fluid is brake fluid, not power steering fluid. The power steering fluid resevoir is black with a green cap.
