I was driving on the freeway in my 2004 manual ford mustang. I went to shift from 4th gear to 5th gear but the gear shift wouldn't let me slide into gear. Then it wouldn't let me slide into any gear. When I turn the car off I can slide into the gears just fine. Also my clutch feels soft I haven't had any clutch problems in the past. Thoughts?
If the clutch doesn't clear the gearbox synchromesh will prevent gear selection though it is possible to change gear by carefully synchronising the road and engine speed for each gear - the normal technique before the synchro gearbox came along. Getting it wrong caused alarming grating noises that was the mark of a bad or impatient driver.
Good gear selection when the car is stationary and the engine off but not when the engine is running or the car moving indicates the clutch is not clearing.
Your clutch needs adjusting and your gear synchronizers are not working properly.

The noise your hearing could be the bearings in your wheel hub, when the bearings go bad they tend to make a squeeling noise. Your tire is attached to the wheel hub if its bad it could cause the tire to feel wobbly. Good luck.

There is a solenoid that keeps you from putting the car in drive if you don't have your foot on the brake. There are several things that can cause the solenoid from working. You may want to start looking there before replacing a cable

Make sure your master cylinder and slave cylinder are operating. If the clutch hasn't been replaced in a while (or you have been especially hard on the clutch) it could just be worn out.
