No this shouldn't affect the heat on your climate control, as the air-con is a separate entity the heat is transferred from the engine, but the air-con cold is a complete unit on its own so should not affect heating the car, just cooling it inside. hope that helps

Possible causes
- Faulty Rear Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1
- Rear Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 harness is open or shorted
- Rear Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 circuit poor electrical connection
- Inappropriate fuel pressure
- Faulty fuel injectors
- Intake air leaks may be faulty
- Exhaust gas leaks
The thermostat and water pump are both common failure points on BMW 6-cyl engines of this era.
I would recommend checking the thermostat first, then moving on to the water pump.
If the vehicle has overheated several times, you may need to remove the cylinder head and have it checked for warp.
