I also have never had trouble starting this car, but a few days ago it kept turning over, but wouldn't start after several tries. I let it sit for a few minutes and tried again, and it started right up. Just wondering if something is about to go wrong with it.

The door switch is located inside of the door latch. You probably have a bad switch and need to have the latch changed. Since the drivers door gets the most use, that is a good place to start.

Why will the headlights not turn off when ignition is turned off?

I will fill in the blanks....you must have a newer car with auto head lights....there is a setting on the headlight switch that lets you over ride the "automatic" headlight mode....maybe you or someone accidently turned it to the manual "on" position...if so turn it back to the "auto" setting......2nd....new cars do have a delay before the headlights go out after parking your car. And if you read your manual, you would see that the time they stay on after turning your ignition key off can be set to several different time settings, including to switch off as soon as you turn the key off.
But if you had accidently turned the light switch to the "on" setting.... fear not....the headlights will automatically go off after the battery is dead....lol....actually they should go off within 2-3 minutes of turning the key off...unless you have an open door or trunk...or engine hood...or maybe even a gas cap door...and your car is telling you "something's open" by the lights staying on....Take that Jim and see if it gets you anywhere.

New battery In mercedes no power

I'm not a car mechanic, but, it sounds like you might want to check the fuse to the ignition switch, and, if that fails, it might be a problem with the Start Safety Switch on the transmission. Good luck.

2000 Chrysler Sebring w/year old battery.  Advise, what could have occurred when AAA jump me???  Left tiny interior light on under my mirror--battery dead.  After AAA came, I let it run

I doubt the service person did anything wrong. In today's cars with both engine and body computers, jump starting a car can be risky.
You're better off having the battery charged for an hour or so then trying to start it.
You may have to have the body computer scanned and possibly flashed to get everything working again. The body computer controls everything you mentioned. It could have lost some of the factory programming when the system was dead.

IF THERE ARE NO LIGHTS OR GAUGE ACTIVITY ON YOUR DASH WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH ON, THERE IS A VOLTAGE PROBLEM. CHECK BATTERY, & BATTERY TERMINALS & MAXI FUSES IN THE FUSEBOX UNDER THE HOOD. IF THEY ARE ALL GOOD, YOU MAY HAVE A BAD IGNITION SWITCH

Dead battery even after 12 hours of charging?

Sounds like battery is fine, or at least o.k. , but there is a problem with the starting system. If you put headlights on, then have someone try to start it while you watch headlights, and they don't dim way down, then battery if o.k. for now. Do you know what killed the battery originally, was it just from sitting for a while & not being used? Listen & locate the clicking noise if you can, it sounds like relay or solenoid. You can try a boost & see if that may help. If it's automatic, move shifter through all gears, then try. If standard, make sure clutch in all the way . Let me know what happens.

Sound's like you have some sort of a short or an open, somewhere, i would first check your fuse box,
in your engine and in your dash with a test light. make sure all fuses are working, if you had an open or short it could be possible you blew various fuses with a certain surge of power..
Second.. if you have an aftermarket sterio and all said before turns out alright. then i would pull out and check the wiring in the sterio and all surrounding it, one could have been rubbing up on another bare wire or ground out.

good luck..
