I have 86 chevette with a 1.6l engine. it had a problem of low idle came home in a snow storm now it revs way too high. checked the timing it seems to be okay, but as soon as you reconnect the vacum hoses takes off at about 1600rpm or higher. we checked all the vacum controls with the vacum tester seem to be fine so were at a loss to the problem. ken

Its vacuum hose related. Mine does the same thing. Am looking for a vacuum hose diagram so I can take off the carb..... Check your vacuum hoses for leaks by spraying something like WD-40 on them and look for bubbles.
The 1st time my 04 Sorento got stuck in 4WD low it was towed to dealership & they claimed it was the switch. Six months later, while on a camping trip, got stuck again. The local tow truck driver saved me hundreds of dollars in towing costs. Put it in reverse for at least 10-20 feet. That's it! He said that he found this to be a common problem. I later asked my dealership why they failed to mention this solution to me. They replied that they thought I knew! Spread to word!
Could be a dirty or snow packed ABS sensor made brake light come on, not 100% sure on yur vehicle. Tire pressures will lower when colder, perhaps all related to snow & cold . If in garage, let it warm up & melt some snow & maybe yur troubles will disappear. I would check tire pressures regardless, they may have been borderline low, and cold caused it to go low enough to trip monitor.
