I have a 2000 BMW 323ci and when I start it it revs up to around 3 or 4 thousand rpms and then dies. To keep it running I have to tap in the gas on and off once it's on it runs fine. I have put fuel injector cleaner a new air filter and changed the oil. I don't know where else to go except a mechanic that will charge me an arm and a leg. It's Christmas time and I would like to put my money towards my family not my car can anyone help?!
Whats the battery condition, usually if you have both heater seat on ,and you start the vehicle it idle fluctuates, why because it places a load on the alternator,This is why you need to know how you battery condition is I am not saying this is the problem or this is the fix, But just for you to be aware of. Another is the IAC (idle air control valve) , compensating for false air or vacuum leaks especially at the airfow air duct,or even a loose airduct at the MAF affecting the idle,
What you have done--- air filter, oil & the wasted money on
injector cleaner--- is not a test or diagnostic proceedure
A repair shop is you only option
Any Euro car will cost more & that is because the govt
won't enforce the laws that exist to release the data we need
on them,so you have to go to a dealer.
Still like the current & past administration?

well, the timing on your ram is computer controlled. is the truck in drive when this mis-fire occurs? or at idle? youve addressed part of your ignition w/the cap-rotor-plug wires. did you examine the old cap for carbon tracking? did you install the rotor properly? i know on my '97 ram the dist is feakin' buried in the engine it would be easy to rotate the rotor while installing/removing it so the timing mark is off. does your engine have the right plugs installed? your plug wires follow the correct firing order with your dist? you did not mention anything about your ignition coil. here is how to safely remove and check your ignition coil. disconnect battery-at the coil disconnect the lead wire (TOP) and primary (BOTTOM) from the coil. label your wires, or take a pic of your ign coil before you remove it so if you forget where the wires go, you have reference point. remove mounting screws and remove coil. clean coil to remove rust/dirt and wipe coil terminals off. inspect case for damage. with a multi-meter, check coil primary resistance by selecting ohm's and then place + and - leads on the pos/neg terminals on the coil, dodge used 2 brands of coils either a "diamond" or a "denso" primary resistance for the diamond mfr'd coil will be between 0.97-1.18 ohms. secondary resistance 11,300-15,300 ohms. Denso primary resistance 0.95-1.20 secondary resistance of 11,300-13,300 ohms. to measure secondary resistance place one of the leads to one the primary terminals and the other lead attatch to the large center terminal. compare your readings to the above values. if your readings are not within range of the above values, your problem is the ignition coil. other causes you may consider is faulty: speed sensor, throttle pos sensor/trans issues like bad pressure solenoid (actuates gear changes) a fault in your overdrive system. hope i have helped!

I would check the all relays. I would check the vehicles main computer. Sound to me the engine ignitoin system was completely replaced.
The altenator should be putting out correct voltage? The battery must be holding the charge because you are able to re start the car.
I think a relay , altenator or computer is getting to hot internally and shutting down.
Good luck,
SOURCE: '95 Honda Civic EX will not start after cleaning fuel injectors
I would talk to who cleaned the injectors, I don't know if it something they did or not. It could be a stuck open injector. The exhaust would have a raw fuel odor if it was. What it sounds like is a blown headgasket, which can just happen. The exhaust would have a sweet smell to it. Usually starts as a small leak (between cyl. 2 & 3), the engine burns the coolant while driving which you don't see. Then the coolant level gradually drops to a point where the car overheats, which warps the head, causing a large leak. Now you see the coolant burning (white smoke).
Good luck Honda Al

Sounds like a fuel problem , have you changed the fuel filter in a while ? could be the knock sensor or the knock sensor module needs to be replaced.
SOURCE: 1989 VW cabriolet, fuel odor, engine stalls in 1st and 2nd gear
Ignition system sounds probable on vhicle when everything gets warmed up. High pitched hum could be bad tire or worse bearing.
Testimonial: "Thank You for your response. The huming sound is present on idle from start-up,tires have just been replaced, would fuel pump be suspect?"
