1 Answer

I have a 2001 honda civic if i try to start it without pressing the gas pedal which seems to be sticking it will not crank it makes no noise whatsoever

The first time i had a problem i thought maybe it was the battery but a jump off gave no results. i pressed the gas and it cranked right up now i can crank it ususally the first time this way but if i shut it off it will not crank again for awhile

Now you have me all sorts of confused....how could holding the gas pedal to floor make an engine crank...especially if the problem is a loose battery terminal? Never mind, don't respond to that....I'm not sure I will be able to handle the answer to that one!

Is it a manuel trans? If it is, try going into gear and try to go. If the car still rev up and not moving, look like you might need a new clutch.

Your battery is stone dead. Once started, the alternator keeps it running.

When hot will randomly not start unless gas pedal is pressed all the way down. on a 2001 honda crv. replaced fule pump, fuel relay, fuel filter, dist. cap, rotor, coil, plugs, wires, and ignition control

If you hold the pedal to the floor it puts the fuel system into Clear Flood Mode. This prevents the injectors from firing and lets the already present fuel burn out. Now if this has to be done on every short trip you probably have a leaking injector.

Does the vehicle seem to crank slowly or stop and then crank when this happens?

Car will not accelerate when gas pushed

Clutch plate and pressure plate seem to be too weak to pull the car. To test the clutch plate, park the car on flat surface. Pull the hand brake up, start the car, depress the foot brake pedal, depress the clutch pedal, put the car in 1st gear, press the gas pedal and leave the clutch pedal at once, while keeping the brake pedal depressed.
Follow one of the two following statements:
1. Engine does not shut down and remain start. (Clutch plate, pressure plate and clutch bearing defective - Replace all as a set)
2. Engine shuts down. (Clutch system is OK and does not require any repair).

Loud noise when press on the gas

see if te noise is there when stationary. if so hold the revs around 1500 to 2000 rpm if it rattles around that, then it is the heat sheild on the down pipe section thats broken free.

What would make the crankcase on a 1999 Honda Civic LX pressurize, it has oil vapor shooting out of the dip stick tube & is pushing oil out of the front & rear main oil seals? The car starts fine,...

I saw this once where a guy took his car to one of those Quick Oilchange places and the kid put in new oil and forgot to take the old out first. Another thing to check is youre PCV Valve, if this is blocked it will increase your crank case pressure.
