CHECK FUEL PRESSURE AT THE REGULATER
IT SHOULD READ ABOUT 45 PSI TO 47 PSI NO MORE AND NO LESS.
IF IT IS LOWER THEN IT IS YOUR FUEL PUMP GOING OUT.

it sounds like the check valve in the fuel pump is letting the fuel bleed back into the tank

Hello, yes the check valve is in the fuel pump assembly. The check valve is leaking and the pump will burn out soon. Unfortunately the aftermarket fuel pumps can be very unreliable. A good portion of problems we see on this site are from people who replace the pump sometimes twice and it still doesn't work.
