I had never shown any symptoms, of not start or no turn or no power anything, since I have it for 7 years. I think somewhere in the electrical system was damaged, especially the way the red positive cable that makes continuous short to ground. No smell or smoke anything that had come out, makes no noise when trying ensender but does not have electric power I do not see burned wires or visible parts burnt

now this may be a long shot... but i had a similar problem on my cutlass. but it wasnt wiring...... it was from the tube running from the head of my engine...... the smell and smoke were coming from hot oil coming out of the crank case vent tube and then being sucked into the air inlet for the heater/ ac.
since a electrical wire's protective cover is petroleum based as is oil.... they smell very similar

do you know what fuse links are,and what they look like? usually down at the starter, the 2 or 3 hot wires besides the main battery cable all connect they feed the power to the fuse box, ignition and accessories, they have black square rubber blocks on them usually 3 or 4 inches from the starter they are built in fuses in the wires themselves check continuity throught them,if you already know about them ,the head light switch and the ignition switch are the first place i would look ,especially if they are original

Hi, I have pasted your circuit below, and I have circled the part of the switch that is failing. It is possible that the white wire from the brake light switch to the multi-function switch is broken. Check that wire for power when the brake is depressed (you have to take the column apart to check the switch).
If the switch is bad, you can get one for only $120 on ebay here:

To check the switch, you will need to disassemble the steering column. This requires a steering wheel puller, which you could probably borrow or purchase for about $10-15. I can send the full instructions for testing/replacing the switch if you would like to try.
