Trying to install a new stereo.

I've got the speaker wiring figured out, the problem is the power supply. I need a diagram to show the constant hot, dimmer and run hot wires. HELP?!?!?!

  • p2lman1960 Jan 09, 2009

The old fashioned way....I like that! I did find a constant hot wire but it was not part of the old radio connection. To make matters even more interesting, the poor ol' thing is so old that the color of the wires are so faded that it's hard to tell some of them apart. So an actual wiring diagram might not do me much good anyhow. Thanks for the help, though!

If you don't have one, buy yourself a $5.00 12volt test light, it will come in handy in situations like these, and many others. Can you not find 12volt constant in yoour old connection?

Need to know the wires to install a deck for 97

Red is power to from ignition to cd deck
Yellow is direct power from battery to cd deck to hold the memory.
Black is ground
Blue is only needed if you are hooking up an amplifier.
I always suggest buying a wire harness quick connect system for $5, then you won't have to cut origional car wiring. If by chance you are taking the original wire route, then go to installer.com to find which wires on the car are for what.
