That is a hard one to answer for you with out seeing the car, DiD you take the cover off from the fuse block to see if any thing look burn,t? It got me end the other techs that work for me verry curious what it could of been , With your detail how it smell when you pop up the hood, Hope fully some problem doesn,t show up down the road, End cost you a lot to have it repaired,But i will tell you if you are driving end all at once smell inside the car what you describe pull over as quick as possible ,Ennd shut the car down end check out where it is comeing from, If smoke is comeing out from the engine (Compartment) Because i have seen lots of vehicles go up in flames in a couple of minutes i hate to stay,

piece of cake....
take off the two "star" bolts, one toward the center of the engine above the light assembly and the other toward the fender (it is very long). when you remove them both the entier assembly falls off into your hands and makes changing the bulbs much easier.

Fuse # 8 in the power distibution center, under the hood should be checked since it powers the fuel pump relay and the engine startet motor relay.

Good Luck

SOURCE: My 2000 Chrysler Sebring JXI cuts off while i am

Since it sounds where this is intermittent, I would be looking to replace the camshaft or shaft speed sensor. I had a similar problem and could not find anything wrong with the car when it ran... So I told my mechanic to replace that, since it is an electrical senor, it is something that can work fine and cut out for no reason. Disabling the car for awhile. Almost as if it gets to a certain temperature that it will not read the speed and the car shuts down as it is programed to do.

Verify you have spark, those are known to have issues with the camshaft sensor in the distributor. I have put 2 distributors in my daughter's 97 sebring jxi, did the same thing.

How many freeze plugs in chrysler sebring jxi

Not positive but I would say six. The engine would have to be pulled and that is a 4-6 Hr job. $400-600 just for that.

Where is the battery located in the 1998 Chrysler Sebring Convert. JXI

Turn the front wheels to the left and you should see an access panel leading to the battery. You may have to remove the left front wheel to gain more room.

I own a Chrysler Sebring JXI 2.o liter 1999 and thermostat is bad

Vickie I strongly suggest you pick up a $20 repair manual at your local parts store. NEVER work on a cooling system when its hot. A cheap tool set from a very large retail store should have the metric tools required for the job. The book will have lots of pics & easy to follow instructions. Don't get frustrated, get informed. I worked professionally on cars for 20 years & I still start alot of jobs just like that

98 sebring jxi convertible. water pools in my back floor board

Sebring Convertibles have weep holes under the body that get clogged with debris and cause the water to back up into the floor. Take a paper clip and straighten it to clean out the weep holes. The weep holes can be found just under the frame at the doors where there is a seam(about where the jack would go). Along this seam about ervery 12 or 16 inches there will be a small slot for the water to drain.

1998 Chrysler Sebring JXI Convertible Blower Motor Not Working

Sounds like it in the switch or the electrical plug at the switch. The electrical plug could be burnt and need repairing or replacing. Need to remove the dash fascia, Careful not to damage clips. If the cover has no visible screws or bolts, then it clips into place. Unbolt heater controls and pull contol forward. Not a fun job but with patience you should be ok.
