SOURCE: Engine management light Battery Low but it is only 5 mths old.
If the Engine Management light is indicating a Low battery, then there is a reason. You may have an intermittent drain on the system or the Charging system is not doing its job.
You need to have the Charging system checked, some places like Autozone, Advance, and Oreilys will check the car free when asked.
You can have their machine cycle check your new battery, which will verify whether the battery is defective after it is charged and discharged at various power levels. Again, a free service.
The intermittent drain problem, which could be the source of all your problems, is harder to fix. Hopefully the charging system check will reveal a bad Diode in the Alternator and you will not have to test the entire car for an intermittent short.
When you start your car, Relays are activated and they are suppose to shut off when the Keyswitch is cut off. But if the contact points in the Relay melt together, they will not release when the Keyswitch is turned off.
Testing for this is difficult because often the Relays will release when bumped or main battery voltage is removed. Then you are right back to having no knowledge of the defects' location.
Sometimes an Ignition switch does not completely turn off, leaving operating systems running. You could try replacing the Ignition switch.
Wiring and Fusebox details are free on the Autozone.com site when you register your car there. If Audi uses a universal Relay in several positions (check part number) then you could systematically move the Relay from position to position while tagging the old Relay with an ID. Then if the battery still drains, restore the old Relay to its position and continue inserting the new Relay in a different location.
I hope to have helped explain some options for you. Please rate my info.
