If the fuel pump cutoff was tripped it would not start at all, I know this for sure, I am a Ford dealer tech and I specialize in no starts and check eng lights. If the ignition switch is bad the 2 halves of the switch will be starting to come apart, it is very common, u should be able to either see it or feel it with your hand.

My car will not stay turned over. after making the pump put gas into the engine 20 times it'll start for about 2 seconds and then die down.

first take starting fluid and spray it into the throttle body while someone starts the engine if it keeps running while your spraying the fluid into the throttle body then you must check the relay change with a new one if same condition then the fuel pump is not working check the fuse if that's good and the wires going to the pump are good and the fuel pump is good then go to the idle air control or the throttle position sensor but I think your fuel pump is the issue here or fuel delivery is not happening

94 bonneville dies if not spraying starting fluid in throttle body

if it only runs when your spraying fluid into it then you have a fuel pump problem that will have to be checked out.check to see if you can hear the pump run when trying to start the car at the fuel tank or by removing the gas cap and listening in the filler tube you should hear a humming noise.then while someone is trying to start the car hit the gas tank with something but not so hard you dent it if it starts then the pump will need replacing.the fuel pump is located in the gas tank.

Won't start. turning, but won't fire.

If you think its fuel, spray some starter fluid inthe throttle body. If it fires up, you have a fuel problem, otherwise, check your spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor. Also, check your fuses.

My buddy has a 89 pontiac sunfire. It sat for a while and he just started driving it, let the gas run out and put new in and then it stopped running. Today we sprayed starter fluid into the throttle and it...

You could have a bad pump motor in your fuel pump. You will hear the "hum" of the pump motor but it won't continuously feed enough pressue to the system.
When you prime it the engine will draw enough to run for a bit then quit. They usually dry out if not kept full and sunfire fuel pumps are noted for this type of failure.
Try a used one for about 75 bucks. My kids Sunfire did exactly the same thing.

Car starts then dies

yea if it runs on start fluid then your not getting enough fuel .. you are likley going to have to change out that fuel pump .. you might hear it come on but it might not be pumping fluid forward .. good luck

I have a 1990 Ford Bronco II that will crank, but will not start. It was running fine yesterday, but today will not start.

spray starting fluid in the intake. if it starts it's fuel problem, if it does not it's electrical. could be bad fuel pump or crank sensor

CANT FIGURE IT OUT

Is the fuel pump running? Take the gas cap off and put your ear by the filler. Now have someone turn the key to the on position (not all the way to start). You should hear the fuel pump run for about 3 seconds. If you don't hear the pump run, the most likely culprit is the fuel pump itself. Second possibility is the fuel pump relay.
