FLAT batterY?? Battery OK,now? New one? Old one OK?HUH?
Get security codes FIRST: radio and NAV.
Disconnect battery from car and wait for 30 seconds and turn on the headlight switch,DURING the battery disconnect.
Turn off the headlights and reconnect the battery.
the security system should "re-boot" and be happy.
then there is the radio issue, Get the code.....

SOURCE: all dash warning lights came

Hatterasnc,

You're alternator has gone bad and the vehicle was running on battery power. The "clicking" sound is your now dead battery that does not have enough power to turn over the starter. You might also want to check your power steering pump for leak. This is a know problem with early LS400s and will most likey be the cause of the alternator failure. I just dropped $1050.00 to fix the very same promblems you have.

2002 LS won't start after ignition replacement

To relearn the key you have to run the security cycle 3 times. It can take up to 20 minutes to complete one cycle. Leave the key on until the security light goes out, turn key off then back on and do this 3 times, then it should start.

Wanting to buy a 1998 lexus ls 400 after replacing the battery the dash lights up but the engine won't turn.. What could be the problem

Are there any warning lights on in the dash, may a security warning light? If so you will need to reset the security system, refer to the owners manual or callthe local Lexus dealer for instructions.

I have a 1995 Lexus LS 400. Occasionally it is hard to start. I turn the key and nothing happens. I wait a few minutes and try again and the car starts. My mechanic tested the battery and charging system...

Tune up wouldn't hurt. replace the air and fuel filters too. And yes you most likely have a dead spot on the starter. It will only keep getting worse

Light comes on staying on saying check securty system what does details

The problem is your Vats security system. This causes the car to either "not start" or "shut down" while running. (depending on the system) If the security light flashes, i guarantee that this is what the problem is. 1st trick, (if not starting) turn the key forward 2 clicks till right before it would normally start, leave like that for 10 minutes. ( no less ) After 10 minutes, turn key back then forward and your car might start.
Cheap fix:
----- http://vats.likeabigdog.com/
----- Bypassing the key
Never worry again fix:
----- http://newrockies.ca?ap_id=judd0081
----- With this fix, you can take that whole Vats, passlock, passkey **** system out of your car all together. Good info on both sites read up on this stuff, if that lights coming on, its gunna fail soon

Turns over upon starting, but will not ignite.

what you need to check is to see if the security light goes off when the key is inserted to make sure the key is still programmed to car when in ignition. Then the basics for a car starting: air, fuel, compression. couldbe alot of things but check the timing on the car, incase it jumped a tooth or timing belt broke. May need tune up: spark plugs. please post more information about problem with car. also check battery cables for corrision.

2001 lexus ls430. Dead battery at airport. jumoers turned over starter fine but car would not start and no dashboard lights, fan, radio but driver and front passenger windows and doorlocks worked but not...

Sounds as though when your battery died the engine imobiIiser locked down.
YOU MAY HAVE TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO A LEXUS DEALER AND HAVE THE MASTER KEY AND OTHERS REPROGRAMMED TO THE IGNITION...BUT
If you have your wallet key as well , try taking all to the airport. HOLD the card to the dash beside the ignition for at least 20 seconds, then try turning the key several times. I haven`t done an LS but the failsafe when a remote fails is to hold the key beside the ignition for at least 20 seconds ....
Also try the lock routine, but I think the issue is in dash..security needing to reboot to your key.
My understanding is that the lock routine re initialises the lock setstings when power is restored

01 monte carlo securty & battey light problm

I had the same problem. Also, "service traction system" warning light, "service engine soon", and "trac off" warnings. Audio system locks every time the voltmeter goes flat. I expected an expensive repair bill. On a hunch, I pulled both battery terminals, scrubbed all points of contact vigorously with a wire "toothbrush" and baking soda paste. (They didn't look like they needed it at all) Reconnected, tightened securely, started engine , and everything is back to normal. Zero cost, 10 minutes of your time.
