It may be that you have a bad hydraulic lifter. Is the noise louder when you first start the car, and go a bit quitter after a few seconds. Unfortunately diagnosing noises in car without hearing them is almost impossible, so you will need to take it to a mechanic and have them check it out.

Without knowing what the sound actually sounds like it could be a number of things. If it's a loud hard knocking sound a Loose or Broken connecting rod is most likely. You can verify this by removing the oil pan and checking the Crank and Connecting Rods for A blue color or dark coloring instead of shiny metal. If the noise is more of a taping that gets worse with acceleration try using the Mid Grade Fuel instead of the low octane. Cars today can run on the Low octane but all those Mileage estimates they talk about are actually done on 89 octane or better fuel. This could also indicate a cam or valve problem that would need a Valve job to repair.

Have a Isuzu 4hg1, assembled the engine and started it. I run it for two kilometers n hear the knocking sound n believe its a fuel knock. How can I fix the abnormal sound?

at idle only, when, does it knock.... wow.
no car stated, sure a huge truck,, 4.57 Liters small.lol
what truck? my guess NPR huge.
is the TURBU -T 4HG1-T?????
Applications include the 2000 Isuzu NPR350A
what year.?
what country?
we know its a diesel"H"
but old ones all knock, (detonate)with mech, injectors, (for sure at idle !!!)

on a new trucks not(with common rail,? direct injection and smart EFI controls)knock ends.

see the old engine
has 9degree injector pump timing
do that? got that?
the new NPR trucks sell this same engine
with Direct injections,knock?
,my guess. a leaking injector DID. if new truck>?
direct injected, is it?
or EFI brain stuck on limphome ,mode ,scan it?

see why not staying year, is IMPOSSIBLE:
the engines in 2000 are NOT same as now,
totally different efi fuel systems.1024092b-cf5d-4452-8e68-40060a48c7e5.jpg

What am I doing wrong? Cylinder 2 misfire will not go away. Tried everything. Even stumped a mechanic.

have a compression test done and look for a moving valve seat insert
it gives the knock, misfire
as it is no 2 cylinder it is mechanical because you have moved the injectors and coils , plugs and leads and it stays at no 2 cylinder
If you want clean engine oil then change the synthetic oil out and put in diesel oil 20w40
It will not harm the engine as it is the same as petrol oil but with more additives than petrol oil
it is cheaper and has heavy detergent properties that keeps the engine internals clean
from the gunk in the sump ,it is clear that changing engine oil on a regular basis is something you don't do but if you want a reliable long lasting engine , it is must do number 1

Rod knock

1. Rods connects to crankshaft and pistons.
2.Crank access is under car through oil pan removal.
3.Piston is romoved after step 2 through top of engine after cylinder head removal.
4. This is simplified explanation, you need to get head and pan gaskets, a gallon of oil, piston ring compression tool, knowledge of engine components and timing procedures etc...
5. Do you have a big garage and all required tools? What have you fixed on a car before, this is not a beginner or intermediate level fix.

How do you replace a Nissan 350Z knock sensor?

Hello
The knock sensors (one for each cylinder head on the V6) are located on the inside of the cylinder heads, in order to replace them the upper intake manifold must be removed. It is always recommended on this engine family that not only replace the 2 knock sensors but that you also replace the short sub wiring harness to the knock sensors from the main engine harness as it is many times the a common cause of the knock sensor code(s) in the 1st place.

My girls elantra sounds like scraping metal when she drives its not the brakes i know what that sounds like i'm thinkin its the rotor how hard is it to repair? and how much am i looking at spending to...

Rotors are easy to replace, but I doubt that's the problem. What you need to do is jack up the car, take the wheel off, and see exactly what is scraping. It could be something simple like the splash shield touching the rotor. This is easy to bend back--10 minutes, problem solved. Sometimes, if it's on a drum brake, rust will build up on the drum to the point of scraping the back plate. Again, easy to solve by knocking the rust plates off the drum. OK?
