Question about Dodge Ram 2500

How far does the slave cylinder on a 99 ram 2500 diesel have to travel to disenguage the clutch?

The clutch on my 99 ram 2500 quit completely disenguaging. I replaced the slave cylinder and master cylnder. This helped the problem, but didn't fix it. Replaced the clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing. When I reinstalled the slave cylinder there is no clutch pressure until the pedal is half way down. With the new internal componets, the slave cylinder will only have about 1 1/4" of travel to disenguage the clutch. This seems too short. Open for suggestions!!!

Might just need bleeding through more , check for any leaks etc on all connections,pipes etc

SOURCE: trouble starting after clutch/flywheel replacement

if starter does'nt turn over or only sometimes turns over the problem is the bolts that hold starter in there is something covering them (Sealant,Oil,Grease,Paint) the bottom of these bolts must be bare metal to provide A good ground for starter a quick ck of this to confim can be done with a jumper cable one end of cable on battery negative term and other to back cover of starter (scrape paint) do not let it hit starter power wire (red) turnn key if it works correctly you know you have a bad ground
bad engine grounds can also affect dash gauges from providing a believable reading and also electronic engine mgmt controlls

New clutch not disengaging

When I do clutch jobs. I replace the clutch package(comes with the slave) and the master cylinder also. Have the flywheel turned or replaced. Just a note. The clutch plate can be installed backwards. No matter how many times you bleed it, It won't work.

I just bought a 1985 F350 1 ton truck, it has a hydraulic clutch. The clutch disenguages fine when the truck is warm, but when I drive it 30 miles and every thing heats up the clutch does not disenguage

I'm sure you've checked the fluid level, I would first try bleeding the system to rule out any air pockets. It also could be a fluid bypass situation, especially if the master/slave are old or the cup seals have been exposed to contaminated fluid. The seals can become hardened over time and will not expand along with their respective bore when hot. The cure for that is replacement of the clutch master cylinder and/or slave. The master cylinder is a fairly easy task, but the slave cylinder requires removal of the transmission. Bleeding this system can be frustrating, but you should be able to find plenty of information about the process around the web. Good luck.

Have a 2001 honda accord just replaced master clutch cylinder and slave cylinder and clutch won't disengage. what could be the problem.

Did you bleed the clutch hydraulic system after you replaced the parts? It requires bleeding just like the brake system does.

open the bleed screw on the slave cylinder ,whilst a good looking long legged assistant push the clutch pedal down and you open the bleed screw..If this still doesnt work then check the clutch arm trhow and see how much its moving ,could be you need a new master cylinder

2000 dodge cummings diesel 5 speed changed the brakes and now the clutch travels 1/2 way and its hard to shift into gears. What is going on and how do I fix it

does the clutch cylinder use the same fluid resevoir ar the brake ?? if it does it might just need bleeding because when you done the brakes the fluid level dropped

yes you can adjust the clutch unless it is already adjusted as far as it can be then you may have to replace it

My truck wont go in 1st,2nd or reverse when truck is running it will go inthe rest of the gears,but if i shut the truck off u can put it in any gear and start it up and go

It sounds like the clutch is getting worn or the slave cylinder is not pushing the pressure plate in far enough.If at all possiable try bleading the cluthch slave cylinder an see if that helps.
