Can not remove the knob on top of the spare tire of a 2008 Prius. I can get the plastic knob to turn but it won't come off. It feels like the knob is separated from the bolt inside or the threads are mess up/wear out. Now I have a useless spare tire stuck in the trunk. What can I do to get the knob off?

You have to smash or cut off the plastic knob, and then use a tool to take out the bolt.

Remember though to first let the air out of the tyre before you try this.
It is likely that the tyre was inflated after the bolt had been screwed in, thus the air pressure actually caused the tyre to widen and grip the securing bolt too tightly.

SOURCE: Inside trunk release won't open

1. Open trunk
2. Place latch in lock position
3. Pull inside trunk release to see what isn't moving
4. If trunk key won't turn, the key may be worn out and need to be replaced

SOURCE: 1997 Toyota Camry LE. During wet weather, water

Most of the problems come when its raining and if its not being driven and water still comes in then its the bonnet rubber and if when its being driven then its due to the rear wheel throughing up water under wheelarch and somewhere theres a crack in the weld or somewhere and it will find its way in..
So if not using it clean it out and when rain stops look inside no rain no leak Have a goodday

SOURCE: How far and how fast

Hello gomo... For those Prius models that have a spare, 35 MPH is the recommended max speed. The spare should not be used for more than emergency driving, therefore, do put a regular tire on as soon as possible, and certainly within 50 miles. Joe

how about a oil filter removal tool to go round the wheel and get some leverage on the wheel. Or maybe a jar opener type device
see link below for an idea on what I am thinking of

Driving from 60 mpg to 70 mpg the car vibrates

I have the same problem on a Prius 2013 which is new. I've had it to the dealer many times. Front tires were replaced. Tires were balanced several times. Toyota says this is normal. I had a 2008 Prius which did not have this problem. No way is this normal to have the car vibrate and shudder between 60 & 70. Above 70 it smooths out. I like to drive at 65 and that is where the vibration is the worst. I can feel it in the steering wheel, the seat and the floor. My GPS on the dash shakes back and forth

My 2008 prius won't start when the button is pushed. It only starts when the key is inserted.

Make sure you are stepping on the brake petal when you push the start button or it won't start up.

The spare tire on my 2008 Grand Caravan Sto-n-Go rattles. I tried tightening it from the inside with the "T" handle. Any tricks or suggestions? thanks

get a piece of foam and set one under the tire, and one on top of it, a 1' piece will do, It adds just enough to remove annoying rattles and keeps the spare and acc noise free

How do i release the spare tire on my 2005 Kia Sedona

Hi, the spare tire is stored on the underside of the vehicle, under the right-side cargo door. The bolt is located in a recessed area that is protected by a small square plastic covering. To remove the spare tire, find and remove the bolt cover, then use your lug nut wrench to loosen the bolt holding the tire.
Remove the spare tire fastener's plastic cover, place the lug nut wrench onto the lug nut holding the tire onto the bolt, turn the wrench in a counter-clockwise direction until the tire is released and reaches the ground.

How far and how fast can you drive on a spare tire (for 2008 prius)

If the spare is the same size as the other tires you can drive like you normally would, but if it's just a doughnut you shouldn't go over 45mph, it will get you wherever you need to get a new tire installed, but I would not recomend driving it that way more than absolutely necessary.

My daugher has a 2008 prius, had a flat tire and now has the spare tire on. What is the maximum distance and speed she should drive

I do not know the maximum distance, but there should be a wear indicator on the tire. Usually the max speed on doughnut tires is around 50 mph but the owners manual will clarify. Usually the spare will have a max speed posted on it somewhere with a sticker.
Please let me know if I can further assist you.

Assuming your spare is underneath & not on the tail gate; do the following: remove the plate on top of your rear bumper & you will see a steel nut. Take your spare tire wrench or a socket & rachet & unscrew that baby until you feel that tire on your foot!

Spare tire location?

With the new 2008 models, the spare tire was moved from the rear of the van to a spot below the front seats. The lug for the tire winch is located under a round cover in the floor just in front of and between the two front seats. If you look under the van, you will see the black tire-shaped cover for the spare.
