For the past month or two my oil light comes on when i put my foot on the brake. i already changed the sensor and it still is coming on. what should i do?
You need to have oil pressure checked manually with oil pressure guage. There is a good possibility that the engine has excessive wear or a bad oil pump and oil pressure is really low. (It's like have a bad heart) That would definitely trigger oil light. If you have low pressure and its not taken care of immediately it will ruin the engine from lack of lubrication to vital parts. a simple test here is to idle the car, and put your foot on the brake
if it stalls then the problem is a faulty brake booster
every body sits at lights /stop signs with their foot on the brake not realizing it and miss that bit of evidence in determining a problem
check for vacuum leaks ( transmission actuator hose, vent controls) run fault codes to see if there are problem sensors
Your oil pump is failing.... when your engine rpm drops (when stopping) the pump and engine rpm drop to idle..(light comes on). when you accelerate (rpm's increase) the pumps start working harder and the light goes off.... I am TRULY surprised the dealer(who did you see at the dealer???) did not know this,... THIS IS BASIC STUFF!! ... I mean 090 level mechanics...
Have you checked your oil because this sounds like you are low on oil. If you are not low on oil then you need low oil sensor may be bad ..Hope this helps
your oil pump may be worn and not putting out the proper pressure
the viscosity of the oil may not be correct
the sensor may be faulty
there may be a blockage in the lubrication oil curcuit( try an engine flush)
when you press the brake pedal the brake master cylinder vacuum booster takes vacuum away from the engine and that slows the idle speed just enough to trigger the low pressure oil light. Pull the oil pressure sending unit out and hook up an oil pressure test gage, if the pressure is above 15 PSI hot engine idle in drive replace the oil pressure sending unit.
