SOURCE: I have a 1992 chevrolet

The pressure switch will open when freon pressure is too low, the compressor clutch is controlled by the computer or module.
The switch isn't necessarily bad, you can check it with a multimeter. The fitting it is threaded onto should have a valve inside and an O ring to seal so no freon loss should happen when removed.

SOURCE: AC Compressor not engaging on 2000 Chevy Impala.

When your R-134a runs too low it will NOT engage the compressor. You need to refill your a/c system before the clutch will engage, I also suggest finding the leak.

1994 chevy k1500 ac compressor not getting power when i turn ac on

In a 1994 Chevy K1500, the compressor should receive power when the AC button is turned on, assuming that the system is adequately pressurized and there are no other issues preventing it from engaging. Here are some steps to diagnose the issue:
  1. Check Refrigerant Levels: Low refrigerant levels can prevent the AC compressor from engaging. If your system is low on refrigerant, it may need to be recharged. This is typically a job for a qualified technician.
  2. Check for Refrigerant Leaks: If your system is low on refrigerant, it's essential to check for leaks. A leak can cause the refrigerant to escape and prevent the compressor from engaging. Look for signs of oil or refrigerant leaks around the AC components.
  3. Fuse and Relay Inspection: Ensure that the AC system's fuse and relay are functioning correctly. You can consult your vehicle's owner's manual or a fuse box diagram to locate the relevant fuses and relays. Replace any blown fuses or faulty relays.
  4. Check the Pressure Switch: Many vehicles have a high-pressure and low-pressure switch in the AC system. These switches monitor the pressure in the system and can prevent the compressor from engaging if the pressure is too high or too low. Check these switches for proper operation and continuity.
  5. Inspect Wiring and Connectors: Examine the wiring and connectors leading to the AC compressor. Look for damaged wires, loose connections, or corrosion. Ensure that there is no damage to the wiring harness.
  6. AC Clutch and Compressor: If all the electrical components are working correctly, you may need to inspect the AC clutch and compressor itself. The AC clutch should engage and disengage when the AC is turned on and off. If the clutch isn't engaging, it may be faulty, or there could be an issue with the compressor itself.
  7. Refrigerant Pressure Sensors: Some vehicles are equipped with refrigerant pressure sensors that can prevent the compressor from engaging if the pressure is out of the specified range. Check if your vehicle has such sensors and test them if necessary.
  8. Professional Diagnosis: If you've checked all of the above and cannot identify the issue, or if you're uncomfortable working on AC systems, it's recommended to consult a qualified automotive technician or AC specialist for a thorough diagnosis and repair.
Remember to prioritize safety when working on your vehicle's AC system, as it involves high-pressure refrigerant and electrical components. If you're not experienced in automotive AC repairs, it's best to seek professional assistance to avoid injury or damage to your vehicle.

My a/c compressor wont engage so im unable to add freon in my 1993 Toyota pickup. It engages for a few minutes when the engine is cold but kicks off after a couple minutes.

That's a sign that your system is very low of refrigerant. So it's best to find and fix the leak before refilling. Adding refrigerant on a system that's low and leaking is a really bad idea. See these two posts about how to diagnose a compressor clutch that won't engage and how to recharge http://ricksfreeautorepairadvice.com/ac-compressor-clutch-not-engaging/

My ac is full of freon but still blows hot air. I had someone look at it and pulled something out and put it back in and it blew cold air for a short time and then went to hot again. Is it a sensor?

With the AC control is set to maximum coldness, you should be able to hear the familiar clicking sound of your AC clutch engaging. The clutch engages with a signal from the AC pressure switch, which reads the pressure level of the system. When the level drops too low, the pressure switch will not activate, and therefore the clutch will not engage. Without the AC clutch engaged, the system will not work and will not be able to circulate even the low amount of refrigerant it may have.

97 chevy suburban AC clutch won't engage pressures

Looks like the low pressure switch gets power from a 10amp ac fuse. Power then goes to the ac relay which is powered on by the ac heat controller on the dash. Power then goes thru the high pressure switch to the compressor. The ac relay is grounded to the body. Do you have power on the lite and dark green wires going into the relay and is it grounded ?

AC clutch only engages intermittently.

on the Ac system is a low pressure switch ,sounds like its faulty so fit a pull or flick switch from ignition supply and run this direct to the pump

Ac problem

first thing is always check for any fuses that may control it. if the fuses are all good, then check to see if the clutch (on the front of the compressor pump) is engaging when it's turned on? if not then it's low on freon. It has to have a minimum pressure in the system for the clutch to drive the compressor so the compressor doesn't burn up. If the clutch does try to engage but doesn't fully engage, (slips) then the clutch on the pump is bad.

Ac compressor clutch will not engage on my 98 yukon.

The most common cause of no clutch engagement is a low state of refrigerant charge in the system. Have a set of AC pressure gauges hooked up and bypass the compressor cycling switch and check the pressure on the low side charging port, you show shop 28-32 PSI at idle.

The ac is blows but the air is not cold.... the compressor is working the ac clutch may not be engaging

if refrigerating system low in presure(low refrigerator level)presure sensor wil not send signal to engage clutch...the second think if system under normal pressure check electrical connectors if they ok,a/c compressor is faulty.
