1995 chevy 1500 4x4, needs a new box near steering wheel for the light to work. I would like to know how much would that part cost and how much to get it fixed.
Canadian, The switch will run you $150 ( non cruise control ) to $250 ( with cruise control). Then what ever labor rates are in you area could run $80 to $180 to replace.
Hope this helps.
By the way, why do you believe the switch is bad?
Let me know.

Hi Eric, I don't know but it could be the computer most of the times is down the left side with the steering wheel on the right (here) with the fuse box near the steering. All the best with it. Greg.
You may have a bad signal switch..Your brake lights run through the signal switch..Try hitting the brakes and move the switch around and see if your brake lights come on intermittently..
The element are serpent in the lights bulb the turn signal and brake usually share the same one but the running or park light are not shared with the turn . so if none of the light for the turn signal light then you will want to look for your flasher control it is ether in or near the fuse box or under dash by steering wheel shaft,,you should also check grounds at light socket if we can be of any further assistance please feel free to ask hope this gives you a place to start .Thank You..
bad turn signal switch broken inside switch, need to remove steering wheel, remove clip, unplug connector under dash on column, undo the 3 screws hold switch in, install in reverse order.
In a Lumina if the brake lights quit working but the upper one in the rear window still works or your tun signals flash weakly or a different speeds the turn signal switch needs replaced. I will cure the problem. Not to hard a job, but does require removing the steering wheel and air bag assembly.
The mechanism in the steering column works you turn signal and brake lights. Odds are its bad, they break sometimes because of the tilt wheel and sometimes they just wear out. You have an air bag in your wheel, I would suggest you might want to take it to a shop. lee
Did you actually check the bulbs? I believe your brake lights, signal lights, hazards all use the same bulb for each side.
Your brake lights may be your brake switch just above your brake pedal. The signals could be your electronic flasher module (EFM) located under the dash near the steering column. Your hazards may be affected by the EFM, but not likely and the switch for your hazards may be faulty
Check fuses first.if the fuses OK,check for power at the brake light switch power goes in and when you depress the pedel the power goes out to the brake lights.
Check the four ways if they work follow the sound and get access to change the flasher. If the foruwasy dont make any noise check on the fuse box or around the under dash area near the steering wheel
You may look or feel the back side of the steering wheel, looking for 2 screws that hold the airbag to the wheel, these will be internal torq type screws (star) you may have to rotate the steering wheel 90 degrees to access the screws. You should first disable the airbag, by removing the airbag fuse, and or by disconnecting a yellow connector located near the base of the steering column. under the knee bolster.(panel below column). Once the retaining screws are removed, lift bag and disconnect the 2 connector to the airbag, the ground for the horn, and the horn contact wire, which requires you to push down and twist counter clockwise, damage to the horn contact ring will occur if you try and just pull connector from the ring. Now you can remove the steering wheel, may require a puller, and the you will have access to the turn signal switch.
