There is a loud whining noise coming from my 2001 Chevrolet Venture. The noise only starts when I put it in gear. It does not make noise when in park. The noise gets louder when I press the accelerator. It also gets louder when I turn on my A\C. The sound seems to be coming from near my belt What could this loud whining noise be?

Belt may be slipping. Try some belt dressing.

SOURCE: Pontiac Grand Prix GT grinding and whining noise when turning...

If you have a warranty from your dealer, you paid for it, or whether it came with it, it doesn't matter, you MAKE them honor it. Take it back there, and MAKE THEM FIX IT! This shouldn't be your problem if you have a warranty. If they aren't honoring it, threaten them with the BBB or court. They will shape up.
I would say power steering pump.First check to make sure there is fluid in the reserve tank and at the proper level if not top it off and whine should stop.If level is correct then maybe try flushing with fresh fluid.
3.8L engine the power steering fluid was never toped/checked.. because it is a pain in the *** to get at (behind the hot as hell alternator), so it probably ran dry, top it up is probably all you have to do.. if the whining presists then you will have to try and bleed the air out by jacking it up, engine off, turn the wheel one side to the other about 25 times.. if that dont quiet it up then you will have to replace the power steering pump.

Power steering pump / fluid level is not hard to check - it is located below the alternator on the passenger side of the engine bay. You need a light to see it. You can get your hand down from the top of the engine to loosen and remove the cap/dipstick.

hi,
sounds like you have a bendix gear going out. take the starter back and get another one and replace the bad one. make sure that all the battery cables are tight and clean first.

Rear bearing

I would be checking first for a seized brake at that wheel as defective bearings normally will still turn by hand and when driven as you describe the noise would be a pronounced grumble. Whining noises occur when driven as you describe because the spider gears in the diff are straight cut and will make a noise when one wheel is spinning and that makes them work

Makes a loud whining noise and is slipping when

Verify that your trans fluid is at the correct level. When if at all was the trans last serviced?

If fluid is low, try bringing it up to proper level with Valvoline ATF+4 fluid. You need to used either fluid from a dealer, or the valvoline brand which is approved by Dodge.

Same problem: a high pitch whine after extended driving

Sounds like a dry/failing bearing or power steering pump noise. You first need to try to track down where the noise is originating, and the most likely place is at the front of the engine.
I would start by listening with the hood up while parked with the engine running and the noise present, and seeing if it is coming from there. If so, the most likely cause is something connected to the belt - e.g. AC compressor clutch, tensioner, power steering pump, or generator. Can also be caused by the belt just slipping (warn out belt, tensioner not working properly).
