SOURCE: I am changing intake gaskets

89 inch pounds then 30 degrees. make sure the push rods get put back in same place they came out they are different lengths. If you ever do another one of these buy the tool for the rocker arms and you will not have to remove them or the rear valve cover. please rate

SOURCE: 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix Thermostat

as you face the engine the thermostat bell is on the right (drivers side) Follow the radiatoe hose. Remove the two bolts and raise the bell still attatched to the hose. the thermostat is there with the rubber seal. You can gently pry the thermostat out with a screwdriver or something similar. Put in new thermostat be sure it is the same as the old one, and then replace or change the seal (be sure it is the smae size and thickness as the old one as I got the wrong size from Napa) Then replace the bell, and tighten, but not over tighten. I hope this helps!

SOURCE: 2002 grand am 4 cylinder rough idle and rough running

Check the ignition control module. Sounds like the exact same problem I have had with mine. Took it to the dealership and the were able to tell me right away. The ignition control module is very easy to replace and is located on the top of the valve cover. Hope this helps!

3400 v6 rods and lifters

Unless something was very worn, my first thought is the lifters had lost all oil pressure. The lifters are hydraulic and should maintain pressure to keep the rockers tight.

Adjust lifters

The push rods on the 3.1 engine are different lengths, so they may have mixed them up. The rocker arms are torqued to 85-90 INCH pounds, not foot pounds. You have to use an inch pound torque wrench.

Changed intakemanifold gaskets for 3100 sfi motor now theres a lound knocking comeing from motor

On the 3.1L engine you have to remove the push rods to replace the intake manifold gasket. It is possible that you didn't tighten down one rocker arm, or you have it mis-aligned.

Grand prix has a 3.1 6cyl. and 166000 mile, it blow white smoke

Sorry to inform you of the bad news but the white smoke is engine coolant burning off and the rough running condition is also associated with coolant leaking into the combustion chambers. This will be a head gasket repair, basically a head job where you will need to machine the heads down and install new gaskets from the heads up.Get back to me if you have any more questions, thanks and I hope I could help!!!
