Hello;
The transmission has a neutral safety combination switch on the drivers side of the transmission. There are 2 electrical connectors to the switch. Buy a new GM ( only ) neutral safety switch and replace yours. Part of what this switch does is let the trans know what gear you are in. Happens all the time, hope this helps;
Thanks;

I cant find were the transmission control solenoid is located at and need to replace it

what kind of transmisson is this 4t40or 4t60 or 4t65 or 4L60 ..well most general motor solenoids are located on the the transmisson valve body . which means on a rear wheel drive the transmisson pan needs to be remove to gain access to the valve body . On a front wheel drive the valve body is located under the side cover on the transmisson . Now if i remember rigth there are 3 or 4 control solnoids . 1-2 shift 2-3 shift and a Tcc solnoid . you need to know which one to replace and what location are they on the valve body

My 4 wheel drive switch would engage my 4+4 wi

If the transfer case is engaging, try it in 4X4 low foot on the brake and other on the gas (power braking) and you can get the rear tires to break loose your 4 wheel drive actuator switch is bad, a common problem on these 4X4's. It is a simple repair and is located on the front differential.

4 wheel drive will not engage (1995 S10 Blazer)

I had this same problem a few years ago. In my case I didn't use the 4 Wheel Drive very often and the tranfer would hang in 2 Wheel. I fixed mine by tapping on the transfer case with a hammer while my wife switched back and forth from 2 Wheel to 4 Wheel.
