Partially blocked fuel filter or clogged injectors. Good place to start. Also, does that truck have a coil for every cylinder?

  • Hi,you need to check the connector for the FPDM you just replaced. Also the FPDM you purchased could be faulty. Common on this vehicle due to stupidity in engineers decision on location of mounting it.

SOURCE: car spits and sputters and stalls after driving a while

sounds like a fuel pump problem, with fuel pumps u can have pressure but not enough volume, try goin up a steeper hill in 2nd gear and get about 3000 rpms on the engine and see if it really drops out bad and is really gutless,if that happens without a check engine light coming on it might be yur pump and u should also replace the fuel filter at the same time, hope this helps

How can i check my coil pack on a 1998 f 150 4.2

measure resistence between companion outputs. they should be marked on the coill pack.12 ohm nominal. mesasure the resistence of the input terminal. 3 ohm nominal. i recently had a coil pack go bad on a '97 crown vic where the number 8/2 tower was reading good resistence when i kept the meter probe steady. if i moved it around while still making contact, it would change. i was getting a cyl. 8 misfire and found a bad wire and the plug was worn funny, so i changed the plugs and wires. this did not fix the underlying problem. the bad coil pack. the vehicle was misfiring at cruise but upon acceleration no misfire was apparent. what are the symptoms the truck is displaying

2002 F-150 V-8 Tritan with a miss. Change plugs?

I suspect the coil pack for one of your cylinders. Ford uses a spark plug cap with a electronic coil pack attached to each plug. I have repaced three on my 2002 F150 so far; Its a common problem

05 f-150 5.4L 3v missfire on take off (light throttle)

I took mine to the dealer. They replaced some plugs and updated the software for the truck. It has been running just fine since then. Give that a shot, it is a lot less expensive then having everything else done and then finding this solution out.
