Is it the warning light that would illuminate if you had the e-brake engaged or is it the light showing that a light is out on the rear of the vehicle? Is it the warning light that would illuminate if you had the e-brake engaged or is it the light showing that a light is out on the rear of the vehicle?
You may have the emergency brake on. I am pretty sure the light comes on when that is pulled. I would double check that. You may also just have a really sensitive brake light. I would see what happens when you press the pedal a little more. You may just have to play with it. http://www.karrysautomotive.com/Cape%20C...You may have the emergency brake on. sounds like a bulb is not seated properly in a socket in the back..check all the lights and groundwires too..starting with all the 4way flashers..then running lights.
Check the brake light switch. It is in the drivers floor board, behind the brake peddle. The switch looks like a box with a button on it. the brake peddle is pressed, and presses the brake light switch. If the switch sticks, the brake lights will stay on.
You most likely need to replace your brake switch, which is a
a $8 part. If you look up along the brake peddle you will see it depressing a switch. on the end of that switch is a electrical connector that you can press on one side to remove.
Once removed your brake lights will be disconected and your ABS
light should go off. You then need to replace the switch that it pluged in to.
2007 PONTIAC G6 CONVERT. BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON WHILE DRIVING AND GO OFF WHEN PUT BRAKES ON, AND YOU CRUISE CONTROL WILL NOT WORK WHILE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON.
check common rail. maybe the problem concerns with a lack of ground (car chassis), and the return path is made through the other bulbs.
Use a 400-grade sand paper to clean the contacts and the metal part of the bulbs.
The parking brake actuator (the mechanism you press with your foot) works like a ratchet wrench. The pedal has a cresent shaped plate with teeth on it. It pivots on a mounting plate. There is a pawl with a small spring also on the backing plate. This pawl engages the teeth on the pedal assembly to hold the brake engaged (against the large return spring). Stick your head under the dash and look carefully at the parking brake actuator mechanism. See why the pawl is not engaging the teeth on the pedal assembly. Most likely causes are that the release mechanism is jammed "on" or that the light spring which attaches to the pawl is missing (usually from being kicked by some one with large feet) View this mechanism on another GM vehicle with the same style parking brake if you suspect that parts are missing. There should be at least 2 bulbs in the light assembly. One light is the light that is on when you turn on your headlights with out the brake pressed, the other light only lights up while you press on the brake. Make sure you are replacing the correct bulb. You may have been replacing the bulb that stays on. Your lights may be set up to turn off the light that stays on when the headlights are on while pressing the brakes.
