Could just be the heat shield for ur exhaust. Looks like an aluminum pan between the floor and exhaust.

It might also be a catalytic converter. Sometime the plates in them come loose and rattle around when you step on the gas. I think it may be an exhaust system issue,

2005 Mitsubishi Triton with 4m40 tapping sound after head replacement?

You may have a hyd. Lifter going bad and losing oil pressure. Remove the rocker cover start the engine and see which one is not oiling. Just have a rag to keep oil from pumping out on you

I have a 2005 v6 triton. It has a load rattling noise on idle and seems to go away at around 1500rpm. It is not always there and doesn't matter whether engine hot or cold.

if on a V 6 petrol @ 1500 rpm
could be the knock sensor
distributor timing might be out
or serp belt tensioner bearings

if a diesel i would expect a rattle@1500 rpm

Have a 4M41 engine in the 2007 mitsubishi triton and when under acceleration between 2000 - 2600 rpm the engine hunts or surges and then clears after 2600 rpm. It is more noticeable in 3/4/5 gears only...

It needs a programming check of the accelerator pedal via ecu of the engine. All previous activity of the system is recorded in the ecu which can be corrected in the dealership of mitsubishi.

Rattling Coming from Engine At low RPM (stopped) and when accl.

If this sounds like a tin can rattle it is likely a loose heat shield on top of the catalytic converter. They come loose after time and corrosion take their toll.

04 Endeavor rattling noise

I had the same problem! I crawled underneath the car and discovered that a heat shield on the exhaust header pipe was corroded and rattling against the exhaust pipe. (Before the muffler)
I removed the portion and clamps and solved the problem. Give it a try.
