SOURCE: 1996 GMC Jimmy w/automatic transmission

First, carefully disconnect the cable end from the shift arm on the transmission (pry gently with a screw driver between the arm and the cable), then take out the staple looking thing from the cable. Then squeeze the tabs on the side of the cable and slide it towards the rear of the vehicle. Take out the two bolts that hold the bracket on.

SOURCE: My brake lights are not

The Brake Light SWITCH Itself, it is Located Under Dash Right ABOVE the Brake Pedal, First check FUSE then Connection @(PLUG) then Check for POWER "IN" This IS CONSTANT POWER No Matter if IGNITION Key is on or off, If No Power out Switch is Bad, If Power IS Coming OUT you Must Locate the Tail Light Harness and Check For Poor Connection @ Junction Plugs.

1996 GMC jimmy wont go into gear.. Changed inline fuel filter and afterwards it cranks up but wont go in drive or reverse.

You may have inadvertently disconnected the shift cable at the transmission, or the cable end may have broken.

Why does it sit at 900 rpm when the vehicle is off completely ? It's a 1996 GMC Jimmy SLS.

Sometimes the gauges freeze when the power is removed. The question to TOU is does it go to zero when the key is on. If it does, don't give it another thought.

2002 Jimmy SLS 4x4 Heater controls don't seem to be working. I can't get the air flow directed to the proper outlets.eg. can't get full flow to defrost or foot outlet. Flow seems to want out at dash vents....

There are doors in the plenum that open and close to redirect flow. There are vacuum and electric motors that control them or could be your switch.

Im takeing out my motor out of a 96 jimmy and i dont know how to take out mty tranmission

Remove the driveshaft, or both if 4x4. Remove the starter and if automatic remove the inspection cover by the starter and unbolt the torque converter. Don,t lose these bolts, they are special order only from the dealer. Unhook your linkage and wiring. Put a jack under the trans with a block of wood between it and the pan. Unbolt the transmission crossmember from the frame and the trans from the engine.Remove the crossmember and slide the transmission back and lower the jack. Hope this helps.

My truck is stuck in 4LO and it won't come out of 4LO.

Likely either a shifter position sensor, transmission position sensor, or a differential position sensor. Had same issue w/ my Montero and it ended up being one of the 5 sensors on the transfer case. It was pretty tough to get to, so replaced all 5. That fixed it.
