Whenever
this warning light or any other stays on in the dash it is indicating
that the systems control module (or the system sensor in the case of
lights like low oil pressure, door open indicators etc.) has detected
a fault, it then disables the system (this applies to ABS,TCS, TCM,
SRS and BCM faults and others) as long as the light is on. You must
now have the dealer hook up a special electronic diagnostic tool and
"scan" the system for the fault code that is stored for the

The factory security light will remain on - this is a standard feature indicating the car is dead.
First, unplug the hazard fuze in the engine bay (this will reset the ecu and remove the flashing)
Next, replace the battery with a new one (or one with proper charge) - keep in mind a small battery will not do anything for these cars, the engines require a lot to push them over (it isnt a honda)
*Make sure to clean the positive and negative battery cables from acid
Then just start it up :)

The problem is in the key or ignition. Aside from the key working like a normal key, it also has a chip or transponder in it that is part of the security antitheft system. The key is then read by the ignition and must communicate the correct signal. If there are any break in communication, the system goes into anti theft and locks out the starter. Might be a key issue or an ignition issue. The fact that the light is flashing, indicates key or ignition. If it were solid, then the problem would be the Theft Deterrent Module (TDM) that is the main computer of the security system. You can either fix the problem part, take it to a dealer who is authorized to fix it, or bypass it entirely. you can not bypass the security in that car, it is built into the main computer, they have problems with the ignition switch screwing up and the only way to start it while the light flashes is to turn the key to ON but don't crank engine, leave on for 10 to 15 minutes until light goes out then start car.

from what i have read, it is design to cut the gas supply so no one can still your car. Mine car wouldn't crank at all with the light blinking. turn the key to the on position and wait 10 minutes. turn it off and try to crank it. it has worked every time on mine. I have also read to cut the LITTLE yellow wire that runs from ignition,but i don't feel comfortable cutting wires even though you can always reattch the wire.
