Engine Fault light illuminates. Ford KA Collection
After being driven through deep water on the road, the engine was running rough and engine warning light came on.
Coil, spark plugs and HT leads replaced and engine running OK, however light is still on, even after running for 50 miles.
Garage has since repaired the computer and the light came on again after a few miles. Back to garage and new coil and spark plugs fitted AGAIN! No change. Engine runs OK. Light still on!
Garage seem to be grasping at straws. Any idea's please
As the car is not mine, i have not seen the code, however I do believe that various codes come up every time it has been back to the garage. Some totally wrong, such as flat battery??

what year is your ka? if its the later model it has electric power steering. the warning light means a fault in the system or it needs to be recalibrated ie. if the battery has been disconneted or gone flat. try with engine running turn steering wheel from full lock to full lock both ways a couple of times if that dont work there is poss a fault in the system and needs to go to a dealer for safety reasons good luck
This is NOT a Tyre pressure sensor warning!
Don't know why people post this when they haven't got the foggiest idea.
It is a fault associated with the drivetrain which includes from the injectors on the engine to the transmission and possibly just a sensor malfunction.
There are multiple errors possible with this fault.
Requires a diagnostic OBD2 port analysis of the ECU to clear the fault codes and further analysis.
There isn't one ! This vehicle relies on serial data communication . The PCM sends an message on the data bus to the microprocessor inside the instrument cluster . The PCM controls the operation of the charging system warning indicator in the instrument cluster. The PCM is therefore responsible for turning the warning indicator off after the engine is started and illuminating it under fault conditions (when the generator is not generating the correct amount of current with the engine running). The warning indicator will also be illuminated by the PCM at key ON engine OFF, and stall conditions. Charging System Warning Indicator
The instrument cluster receives the charging system status from the PCM over the SCP or CAN communication network. The PCM controls the charging system and the charging system warning indicator. The PCM is therefore responsible for turning the lamp off once the system is running and illuminating it under fault conditions (including stall conditions). How to Diagnose Controller Area Network CAN Your best bet would be to take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop .
VECTRA CAR WITH SPANNER WARNING LIGHT
This Vauxhall Vectra car with spanner warning light illuminates or flashes yellow. Light will illuminate for around 3 seconds when the ignition is switched on. If the fault light illuminates whilst the engine is running, this signifies a fault within the engine or gearbox electronics system. The system will switch to emergency mode where fuel consumption may increase and the vehicles drivability reduced. A Vauxhall workshop must be consulted. If the light flashes whilst the engine is running, this signifies a fault within the electronic immobiliser system and the engine will not be able to be restarted.
Hi i had a similar problem with a peugeot 607 it turned out to be a faulty brake light switch that was sometimes not working and so confusing the asr system. It also left no fault code but did activate the asr warning lamp when it was faulty. try checking the brake light switch for an intermittent fault. Hope this helps
