I had similar problem with my 97 sierra... I only lost 1 light, then brake lights stayed on all the time... turns out the "t" connector for the trailer harness under rear bumper was rotted inside...unplugged the 2 parts of the harness and pluged them into each other with out the "T" harness.... everything works great... Hope it helps ya

Can't find the fuse that controls the tail lights for a 1992 GMC sierra. Our tail lights don't work and the instrument light (where the speedometer is) doesn't work. The list in the manual isn't clear

The fuse you are looking for should be in the middle of the fuse box and is marked instrument cluster. Chances are that it is good. On a GM if the tail lights and dash lights go out at the same time that is a sure sign that you need a new headlight switch. Hope this helps.

I have a 2002 GMC sierra 1500. Instrument Lights Not Working

When dash lights don't work odds are the tail lights don't work either.Sounds like Dimmer switch may be a problem.

Marker lights, tail lights and dash lights do not work

I had a similar nagging problem once, though I do not recall the dashlights being involved. For me, the lines from the brakes went up the steering column to the turn signal. I pulled the wheel and inspected all the connections, and just like that everything worked again. I believe I could have tugged on the wiring harness without pulling hte wheel and obtained the same results.
