I recently bought a 1999 Grand Marquis the lady started using Ethanol free gas in it since she bought it. I starting using the 89 gas and the check engine light comes on and when I put some of the Eth. free gas in it and when it reaches the engine the light goes out. What do I need to do to the car to help me to start using the 89 gas without the light coming on?

the very 1st thing u do is have the trouble code checked that turned on the light, there are well over 200 possible reasons for a check engine light, a fuel filter is not one of them.

its the tube going from the egr valve to your exhaust it have carbon build up and you either have to replace it or get a metal coat hanger and clean it out.

1 minute won't reset any codes for the Grand Marquis. You need to dicsonnect the ground and wait 15 mins for the caps in the comp to fully discharge.
