Question about 1991 Chevrolet C1500
My 1991 Chevy c1500 started stalling out when Id put it into drive. It sometimes takes 3 starts for it to go. Today it shut down without me putting it into drive, then ran fine after two starts. Doesnt stall when I give it a little gas and will run fine and idle fine when Ive been on the road for a few minutes. We have checked the block ground, map sensor is connected but dont know if its good, vacuum seems fine, please help
Usually a problem with a dirty throttle body or a faulty idle air control valve. The computer controls idle speed by regulating how much air enters the intake thru the valve.

I have replaced many injector driver modules on these diesels. GM has redesigned it and i have never had a replacement one fail. This is a known problem for the 6.5 diesel. Unfortunately its about a 500 dollar part from the dealer, and requires intake removal, and some very tight work space to replace.

is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and
throttle valve but always run a OBD2 (1996 and newer) or a OBD1 (1995
and older) fault code as well as the cleaning procedure. Buy a can of
throttle valve cleaner (do not use carburetor spray cleaner!) from
NAPA or Carquest (made by CRC chemicals) and spray it into the air
intake while the engine is running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine
will try to stall hold the speed up, shut it down and let it soak for
30 minutes, restart and blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down
and disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the
base idle control
