E60 525i that I just brought and it has the same problem, the owners manual suggests driving with the key in the ignition for a long time as the batteries are rechargable and may have gone flat, i have tried this and it doesnt seem to work

i also read something about getting water in the aerial about the rear window and that wrecks the receiever. My car isn;t under warranty so not looking forwarding to taking it to bmw

I m a locksmith and had the same problem

What you do is:

HOld The handle up while you turn the key to the opening direction, it will feel as though it may bend the key but it will not.

keep pulling the handle until the button pops up it works I did it

SOURCE: BMW Z3 WRONG UNLOCK RADIO CODE HOW TO GET THE RIGHT ONE

If the radio is displaying code wait, or wait, then the ignition and radio must remain on for 1hour. I would contact a dealer within the USA and provide them with your radio serial number. The serial number can be displayed in the radio by pressing and holding down the "M" button while turning on the ignition.

SOURCE: 2006 BMW 323i Passnger Door lock will not lock / unlock w/ remote

Replace fuse 57 (15 amp) then disconnect battery and wait 30 to 45 minutes before reconnecting the battery.

My 2006 BMW 325I had the same problem with the door locks not responding. I checked all related fuses and found #57 (15 amp) was the only related fuse blown. I put in a new fuse and it still would not work. I then disconnected the battery for a while then once I reconnected the battery everything worked fine.

I believe I blew the fuse while repeatedly pushing the unlock button rapidly while walking across the parking lock to the car. I suggest only pushing the unlock button only once or twice.

Hi the central locking on my z3 is refusing to unlock and the key is not turning in the door lock to open the vehicle. i can disable the alarm with the remote on the key and i can access the boot with the...

Its possible the power lock actuator has ceased up this would cause the locks not to lock or unlock and not budge as you would say. BMW probably has some fancy name for the part and you bet its probably pricey. Its also possible a piece inside the door has jammed the assembly. I would pull the door panel and do an inspection. See what the actuator is doing when you hit the unlock or lock button and see what it does when you use the key. You would also be able to see if there are any obstructions of the lock assembly.

I had an aftermarket radio installed in a 1997 bmw z3. After installation, the key fob no longer locks or unlocks the doors. Any ideas for a fix.

everything keyless runs on frequencies if you removed the radio most likely it removed the keyless entry too especially in a beemer

1996 Z3 won't start nor will the key lock/unlock the doors. Full charge on battery, when I turn the key it does nothing. Is this a Security cut off, and if so, how did this happen? Thanks

Sounds like a security lock out. You will probably end up at a dealer for more info on your specific cars system. You may want to try changing the battery in the remote.

Keyless remote

Disconnect the battery from your car (negative cable only) overnight. Make sure you have your radio reset code before doing so.

Then reconnect after 10 hours, and make sure you have remote handy as alarm may go off. Then if that doesnt fix it, go to driver door, then insert master key, pull up on handle first all the way and hold it. Then turn the key slowly all the way so the doors unlock and continue turning the key. This will reset the central locking system as yours may have gotton stuck. then remove key let go of handle, open door and try to lock and unlock doors from switch inside car.

Then try remote. It should work, this is what the dealer will do and charge you about $350...if it doesnt work order a new remote b/c yours may have become damaged by liquid or dropping?

Have a great day,

Thanks,

Mark

Bmw z3 alarm system problem

The alarm system is located behind your glovebox. The sensitivity portion should be mounted on the rear portion of your glovebox, while the electronic portion plugs in directly behind that. Unplug and play.

Wont Start

Could be the immobiliser.  Do you have the original keys?  If your key does not have a remote unlock, it's likely to be a "spare" key, which doesn't have an immobiliser chip in it.  If you take your VIN to your dealer, they can get you a new key - at a cost.  I've been quoted over $400 to have a key replaced.
Hope this helps.
