Shifter moves freely corvette c5 - 2003 Chevrolet Corvette

Either the shifter cable has broke or it has come loose from either the end of the shifter itself or the transmission.

Sounds like your shift cable came unhooked or just plain Broke, it hooks to shifter and hooks to transmission, If it moves freely I would say it's Broken, and that is why car won't start cause it is still in drive

try the shifter cable

shifter cable at trans has broken replace cable and it will work again.

replace the shift cable remove it and see if it moves freely if not replace if it moves freely check the shift mecanisim on the tranny if it moves freely then the problem is the shifter... take it apart clean it and reassemble.. this should do it...

ine did that,and i have a blowed fuse,,,and my light came on when they unpluged the wires,,i had to erase the light with a programer..

i would be temted to say its a worn out linkage
between shifter and transm.

was there any problems up till this because its sounds like the shifting forks in your transmission broke if it moves freely i had this problem in my car one time might be a cable snapped loose or could be a clutch problem

Give the shifter a good hard hit on the top. Sometimes it pops out of place.
